"Hello Future" is the title track of NCT-Dream's album, which came out in June 2021, and it's one of their most popular songs. NCT-Dream is NCT's third sub-unit, which began in August 2016 and it is currently made up of the 7 youngest members of NCT -- Mark, RenJun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle and Jisung. (Mark and Haechan are also members of NCT-127.) All the Dream member's are currently between the ages of 20 and 22 years old (they were 14-17 when they debuted.) SM originally created NCT-Dream with the idea that if they had a trainee that they felt was ready to debut even though they were really young, they would start out as a member of NCT-Dream. They were the cute babies of the group who were learning the ropes and honing their skills because they are young, but they are also some of the most talented because they debuted way sooner than a lot of trainees. Which explains why the Dreamies are so impressive. The plan was that when the members turned 19 they were supposed to graduate from the group and they were no longer considered a member of NCT-Dream. Mark (the leader/captain of Dream) "graduated" from NCT-Dream in 2018. We then thought Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin and RenJun would be graduating in 2019 and they would form a new NCT sub-unit or be add to a sub-unit that already existed. (Which would have left NCT-Dream with only 2 members, with the idea that new trainees would probably debut sometime in 2020 and become members of NCT-Dream.) However, as you've seen, SM announced at the beginning of 2020 that they decided to make NCT-Dream a permanent group and suspend the whole "graduation" concept, including putting Mark back in the group. As with all of NCT's MVs, you should really check out the dance practice for "Hello Future." You will be even more impressed with their dancing when you see the choreography in full without any cuts or edits.

SM actually hired a movie fight trainer and martial arts coach to teach the members of NCT-127 how to do the kicks, punches and use the nunchucks, etc. for their "Kick It" MV. If you really want to see how they filmed the MV and song, you should watch the behind the scenes of them recording "Kick It" and the behind the scenes of them filming the MV. You will be even more impressed when you see how much work and detail went into this MV. This might even help you to get to know the members a little bit because they will use their names in the English subs when the members do the behind the scenes interviews while filming. NCT-127 (pronounced N C T one two seven) is NCT's second sub-unit, which began in July 2016. NCT-127 currently has 9 or 10 members. This group is more of a fixed unit, so the member lineup stays the same most of the time. The 127 in this unit's name stands for the longitude coordinates of Seoul, South Korea, on a map of the world, which means it's 127's job to represent Seoul -- the birthplace of Kpop -- around the world. There are 9 members in "Kick it" -- Taeyong (leader of all of NCT, main rapper and dancer), Taeil (main vocalist), Johnny (lead vocalist and sub-rapper), Yuta (lead vocalist), Doyoung (main vocalist), Jaehyun (main vocalist and sub-rapper), Jungwoo (main vocalist), Mark (main rapper and dancer) and Haechan (main vocalist). Plus, if you like their dancing you have to check out the dance practice video for "Kick It" because the MV doesn't even begin to do the choreography justice. I guarantee, there are parts of this dance that you didn't even notice, that will become clear in the dance practice. ;D And if you want to see them in the studio learning the choreography, check out the Uncut dance practice vlog as well. Most people don't get all the references to Bruce Lee in "Kick It" (Chinese/Korean title "Hero") even though everything is based on being like Bruce Lee -- hence why they say Bruce Lee like a hundred times in the song LOL -- and black and yellow are Bruce Lee's signature colors -- so, that is why "Kick It" used those colors. (Many say this MV reminds them of the Movie "Kill Bill," without realizing that movie is based on Bruce Lee-style action movies and is sort of a homage to Bruce Lee.) As you may know, the finger move on the side of their nose is a signature Bruce Lee move. Bruce Lee is a Chinese action hero, so even though this is one of the Korean sub-units of NCT, those are Chinese characters you see on the signs in the MV, etc.

Fun fact: Because WayV -- which stands for We Are Your Vision in English -- or Weishen V in Chinese -- which means "gods of vision" -- is a sub-unit of NCT, NCT's whole dream concept is also part of WayV's storyline and concept. (Hence, why they say "the face of Vision" in the lyrics of "Turn Back Time".) As with everything NCT does, it all has to do with some aspect of dreams or dreaming or being in a dream state, etc. Currently, there are 7 members in WayV: Ten and Lucas debuted first as members of NCT-U and they are also members of SuperM; Winwin first debuted as a member of NCT-127 and NCT-U, and Kun -- the leader of WayV -- originally debuted as part of NCT-2018; and Xiaojun, Hendery and Yanyang debuted specifically as members of WayV at the beginning of 2019 when WayV was formed. > Kun -- the one with the blue hair -- is the oldest who just turned 27. He is a lead vocalist. > Ten -- the guy with the safety pins on his jacket and the V card in the beginning -- is 26 and he is Thai, but his grandparents are Chinese and he attended an international school in Thailand where they spoke English most of the time, so he is fluent in English. (He is the NCT member who is fluent in the most languages -- on top of being fluent in Thai, English, Korean and Mandarin, he is also learning Japanese); he is a main dancer, lead vocalist and a center of WayV. He is also the NCT member with the most solo songs. > WinWin -- the guy with the leather jacket and no shirt with the chains -- is 25 years old and he is a lead vocalist, lead dancer and sub-rapper. (He is trained in traditional Chinese dance and attended one of the most prestigious dance academies in China. He was also admitted to a very important dance program at University -- similar to the Chinese equivalent of Julliard.) > Lucas -- the shirtless guy -- is Chinese-Thai from Hong Kong, so his native language is Cantonese and he is almost 24; he is a lead rapper, vocalist and the visual of WayV. > Xiaojun -- the guy with the gray hair -- is 23 and he is the main vocalist and the one with the high notes most of the time. > Hendery -- the one that says "Trying to see the face of vision" -- is 23 and he is from Macau China, so he also speaks Cantonese; he is a lead vocalist and lead rapper. > Yangyang -- the one in the room with all the graffiti -- is the youngest at 22 years old. He is Taiwanese, but he lived in Germany for a while and attended an international school, so he is also fluent in English and proficient in German; he is the main rapper. Some fans who are into SM group theories have also speculated that NCT's storyline also connects to EXO's and SuperM's storyline. You just have to come to accept that everything you see from SM will be connected to SM's Culture Universe, and it's all part of a giant drama or movie -- it's just another chapter in the story. Since the creation of SuperM, where they are now taking members from each of SM's most popular groups and creating an Avengers supergroup, I think that was SM's first indication that from now on we need to pay attention, because all of its groups' MVs are somehow connected. If the SuperM Avengers are coming together to help EXO stop the Red Force, I think the members who are part of SuperM are the liaisons who are helping to connect all the groups -- EXO, Taemin/SHINee, NCT and WayV -- together. For example, right after SuperM released their debut "Jopping" MV, WayV came out with "Moonwalk" and I think "Moonwalk" is pretty much a continuation of "Jopping's" storyline, and now I think their other MVs, such as "Turn Back Time" and maybe even "Phantom" are also part of that story. With NCT's dream concept, they could very easily connect to EXO's other world and other dimension theories. For example, I see parts of the story in "Turn Back Time" that could be connected to SuperM's MV for "One (Monster & Infinity)." When Lucas is suspended in the air in the MV for "One (Monster & Infinity)," I see similarities to the fact that he is supposed to be a fallen angel in "Turn Back TIme" who is also floating in the air. Lucas doesn't have a shirt on because he has just had his wings ripped off or removed, so he is shirtless because he is recovering from whatever happened to him. You see the scars on Lucas' back because his wings have been torn off. I also wonder if WayV actually has the power to turn back time, similar to Tao's superpower in EXO -- will it be their job to help fix the problems in EXO's and SuperM's storyline by turning back time? ("5, 4, 3, 2,1" -- they are counting down and turning back time. The end move in the choreography was designed to show time had abruptly been stopped and the momentum of their movements caused their body to tremble like that, etc.) And, if you notice, Ten and Lucas have a pivotal role in the storyline in "Turn Back Time." I think this might be because they are members of SuperM and they are coming to gather the other WayV members to bring them into the fight. Maybe in "Turn Back Time" the WayV members are cut up and injured because they have been involved in the battle as they help SuperM take down the Red Force. In the end of "Turn Back Time" you see a post-apocalyptic world with a mashup of buildings that form the shape of a V, which I think is connected to the fact that in WayV's "Moonwalk" MV we see a meteor shower taking place. And I also think that meteor shower is connected to the fact that we see the planet on fire in the end of EXO's "Obsession" MV and everything on fire in Lay's solo "Sheep" Alan Walker relift version MV, etc. I think at the end of their "Turn Back Time" MV, they might be showing what their world looks like after the destruction of the planet has taken place. The only reason why WayV doesn't have NCT in their name like the other 3 NCT sub-units is because, at the time of their debut, there was a lot of political issues between Korea and China, and because of that Korean companies were not able to work in China. NCT's Chinese sub-unit has been going to debut for years, but with all the political issues it took SM Entertainment a long time to find a way to work around all the rules the Chinese government put in place to prevent its native Chinese citizens from working with anyone associated with Korea and preventing anyone who was working with a Korean company from working in China. So in order to circumvent some of China's restrictions, SM found/created a Chinese company that was willing to take on NCT's Chinese sub-unit, but also allow SM to have a say in the group's concept and promotion activities. Part of how they get around the rules is they gave the group a name that distances them from their Korean roots. (That is also why WayV's Chinese fans are called WayZenNi instead of NCTzens and why WayV has their own lightstick design that is different than NCT's, etc.) The company WayV is under is called Label V which is part of SM, but separate from the Korean branch of the company and it produces songs in Mandarin to keep the Chinese government happy. All the members of WayV also speak Mandarin and have some connection to Chinese heritage, but most of the members are not native mainland Chinese citizens, so this gives them some immunity from the Chinese government. But they are representing China and they are promoting Chinese culture, so the Chinese government kind of turned a blind eye to the fact that they are technically still under a Korean company, as long as they hid any connection to their Korean company while doing promotions in China. As you can see, not only do the WayV members speak, Mandarin, Korean and English, but they are a very international group that speaks many languages. So, pretty much all of WayV's songs are in Mandarin with a few English lyrics and words mixed in. (Except when it's an English version, such as "Bad Alive" or their all English version of "Love Talk," or their English song "Miracle", or if you happen to pick the Korean version of some of their songs.) LOL

In NCT-U's"The 7th Sense," what you are seeing, as part of NCT's dream concept, is supposed to be the use of the 7th sense. Humans have 5 physical senses -- sight, touch, hearing, taste and smell. The 6th sense would be, the ability to perceive or sense something that isn't there, like, for example, in the movie "The Sixth Sense" where the boy could sense ghosts. So in this MV SM Entertainment used the "7th sense" to describe where NCT's dream state comes from. The 7th sense transcends the physical world and it deals with the dream realm. If you look up the English translation of the lyrics, you will see how they are all talking about dreaming, so each of the scenes within the MV is a different part of the dream or each of their individual dreams. (It's really worth looking up the lyrics to help understand NCT's concept and this song better.) "The 7th Sense" came out April 4, 2016, and it is NCT-U's debut. As you saw, in this song and MV, there are 5 members who debuted as the first installment of NCT-U -- Taeyong, Mark, Ten, Jaehyun and Doyoung. This was a really important MV because it was the public's first introduction to NCT and it was NCT's first debut out of all of their sub-units. Ten is the one in red in the room with the plants; he is NCT's Thai member and he is also a member of WayV, NCT's Chinese sub-unit. Mark is the rapper in the pink tiled room and he is Korean-Canadian; and Taeyong is the blond who is the leader of all of NCT, so he looks after all 22+ members -- Can you imagine having that job? And Jaehyun -- the one you see with the blue and green lights highlighting him -- and Doyoung -- the one with the orange hair -- are two of NCT's main vocalists. NCT-U is the group that can have any number of NCT members in it depending on the concept for the song. So even though they debuted with 5 members, you will see that NCT-U is always changing up the members and the style and sound of their songs is constantly changing. NCT-U can have anywhere from all the members or only 1 or 2 members. The U stands for United, but I also like to think of it as Universal because of the way the group never has a fixed number of members. Fun fact: About 3 months after NCT-U debuted, in July 2016, Taeyong, Mark and Jaehyun debuted again as original members of NCT-127 with the song "Fire Truck" -- along with new members Taeil, Yuta, WinWin and Haechan. And then about a month later, in August 2016, Mark debuted yet again, for the third time, as part of NCT-Dream -- the only NCT member to debut in all 3 original groups -- along with Haechan, and new members Jeno, Jaemin, RenJun, Chenle and Jisung. With their song "Chewing Gum." Mark was 16/17 during all of these debuts, and yet he radiates a completely different energy with each group. However, NCT was actually introduced to the media in February 2016 as part of SM's new Neo Culture Technology concept. If you want to see NCT's official debut showcase, if you haven't already, check out kzread.info/dash/bejne/fa1psNiQo7vUnps.html. (Skip to 16:00 this is the part that has to do with NCT.) You don't necessarily need to react to it if you don't want, but you should check it out. I think it's kind of interesting to hear Lee SooMan's explanation about the creation of Neo Culture Technology and it's cool to see the epic way NCT was introduced to the media. The very first members of NCT entered wearing masks and their identities were revealed as they removed their masks. SM is kind of known for being a little extra and going over the top, and this presentation is a good example of that. LOL If you like their dancing, then you really should check out their dance practice/performance video for "The 7th Sense." NCT is known for their dancing, and they have a dance practice video for almost everything they do.

Here is some more information about how NCT works. I hope this might make it a little easier to understand. NCT is different than any other Kpop group in the industry. NCT -- which stands for Neo (a pop culture term that means new/original) Culture Technology -- currently has 23 members. And the group right now as a whole has 4 sub-units. The way NCT works is it's a group with an infinite number of members. (There are an unknown number of trainees who are still waiting to debut who could potentially become members of NCT.) As SM Entertainment's male trainees graduate from the training program and SM decides they are ready to debut, they become a member of NCT and they debut as part of one of NCT's sub-units. (They just added 2 new members -- Sungchan and Shotaro -- at the end of 2020, who are expected to eventually become members of a new sub-unit.* ) *NCT probably will be growing to 26 members soon. SM has been showcasing 3 new SMRookies -- Shohei, Eunseok and Seunchan -- lately and they just recently performed at the SMTown concert with Sungchan and Shotaro. So, by all indications, it looks more and more like NCT will be getting 3 new members and they probably will be part of the new unit. It is speculated that the next sub-unit will be a Japanese based unit because Shotaro and Shohei are Japanese and they have recently been doing a lot of promotions in Japan. NCT is a group that is constantly changing and rearranging its members and sound and we never know quite what to expect from them. With an infinite number of members and a concept that allows the members to rotate between sub-units, changing, adding and subtracting members depending on the concept and style of the song, you should never expect the same thing from them. You are better off always expecting something new, that somehow, also ends up sounding very much like NCT. LOL NCT is a very international group. The members as a whole currently represent 9 different countries and they speak 8 different languages. For example, there are 10 native Korean members (Taeyong, Doyoung, Taeil, Haechan, Jaehyun, Jeno, Jaemin, Jisung, Jungwoo and SungChan), Mark is Korean-Canadian, Johnny is Korean-American, Yuta and Shotaro are Japanese, Ten is Thai, Lucas is Chinese-Thai from Hong Kong, YangYang is Taiwanese but he grew up in Germany, Hendery is Chinese from Macau (China) and 5 mainland Chinese members (WinWin, Kun, Xiaojun, Renjun and Chenle). NCT is SM's attempt at taking over the music industry around the world. SM's goal is to eventually have NCT sub-units representing every major city in every country in the world. Some day they hope to, for example, take several Japanese members and create a Japanese sub-unit, or put together members from Thailand and create a Thai sub-unit, etc. It has always been SM's plan to have world domination. And to that point, right now NCT-127 is the group that SM is using to try and get their foothold in the U.S. music market with English songs like "Regular" and "Highway to Heaven" and collaborations with American artists such as Jason Derulo, as well as a U.S. concert tour and promotional tours with the American media, etc. So, this year will be NCT's 7th anniversary, but debut dates are different for any number of members because it all depends on when they were added to the group. And many of the members of NCT actually became recognized by fans even before debut because they were part of SM's pre-debut group project called SMRookies, so SM did activities with several of the members before they debuted.

the only rotational part of NCT is NCT U though (which stands for NCT United) the rest are fixed units (NCT 127, NCT Dream, WayV). WayV is the only unit where all members are from the same descent (Chinese). That's why WayV is a China based unit. The other units are mixed (Korean-Japanese-Chinese).

NCT is an acronym for Neo Culture Technology. The concept is a group of having an unlimited number of members. Meaning they potentially can add members at any time. Also the Neo of their name speaks to their music being the future, different and diverse. The group is under SM Entertainment SK. Their fandom name is NCTzen (meaning all the fans are citizens of NCT). There are four sub-units that make up NCT. Currently there are 23 members. The leader of NCT as a whole is Lee Tae Yong (27) Born Seoul, South Korea. NCT U is the 1st sub-unit of NCT. NCT U does not have fixed members. The lineup changes depending on who fits the song/concept/comeback. NCT 127 is the 2nd sub-unit of NCT. 127 currently is a fixed unit of nine members. The 127 stands for the longitudinal coordinate of Seoul SK. The leader of 127 is also Tae Yong. NCT Dream is the 3rd sub-unit NCT. Dream is a fixed unit of 7 members. The leader of Dream is Mark Lee (23) Born Toronto, Canada. Mark and another member of Dream Haechan are also a fixed members of NCT 127. WayV (WeiShen V) is the 4th subunit of NCT. It is based in China. WayV the first sub-unit of NCT based outside of Korea. WayV is under SM Entertainment’s China-exclusive label, Label V. WayV is currently a fixed unit of seven members, who are either Chinese citizens by birth or have Chinese ancestry. WayV songs are sung in mostly Mandarin. The leader of WayV is Qian Kun (26) Born Fujian, China. One member (Lucas) has been on hiatus since August 2021. SM Entertainment is a company known for having artists who are versatile, talented, amazing vocalists and dancers. They are known for having some of THE BEST artists in Kpop. They are also known for having the most R&B sound and hiring some of the top American?European R&B/HipHop producers for a lot of their artists songs. They also have amazing in-house producers. I know I typed a lot , it took me some time to learn all of this after I discovered NCT and Kpop in general a year ago. Figured I would share what I learned. Hope it helps.

You should include that NCT DREAM inititially had a Graduation System where once a member turns 20 years old, they'll have to leave. Mark was the 1st one to leave Dream in 2018 but in 2020, SM announced that current Dream Members + Mark will stay in the unit.

I love WayV lyrics... often their title tracks have a beautiful philosophical theme to them. They recently performed T7S (the first time in a LONG time) at the SMCU New Years online concert, soooo good! SM has an all-company free event on NYE to ring in the new year. NCT U - 일곱 번째 감각 (The 7th Sense) @ SMTOWN Live 2023 (SMCU Place at KWANGYA) kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZXihqLGdYNeposo.html T7S was the NCT debut... SM very purposefully chose a song that was incredibly different from anything that was happening at the time in kpop... and honestly, still is. A boy group debuting with a slower tempo song, just doesn't happen... and it really set the tone for what the company had in mind for them. To basically create their own genre, always be ahead of the curve and to set the trends, not follow them. And NCT has definitely done that... they've created their own distinct style and sound, yet always manage to make every come back something totally new to them. Unfortunately, taking so many risks brings a lot of hate with it... I swear every single damn comeback, there's a faction of people who HATE the song and are very vocal about it... but almost always the song becomes iconic and is stuck in everyone's heads. Being new and different, sometimes means you'll need a listen or two to wrap your brain around it... but people seem to always forget that on every comeback. lol NCT's most viewed mv, followed by each of the fixed units debut; NCT U - Make A Wish (Birthday Song) NCT 127 - Fire Truck NCT Dream - Chewing Gum WayV - Regular (Mandarin ver)
