Damn....Bryant weeping at the loss of Arthur Ashe had me tearing up as well..

If Bryant had not left I probably think The Today Show wouldn't have gone through the trouble they went through with Matt Lauer.

@@thebeastfromwithin3024 Did you not follow the story when it initially broke? He was fired due to accusations of sexual harassment levied against him by several colleagues at NBC. The network cut ties with him after one of his co-workers filed a complaint about his unsavory behavior, which NBC believed spanned multiple episodes, including an accusation made against him during the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. I'll go no further than that.

Bryant's first & last Today Show was in early January. First was 1/4/82. His last was 1/3/97. I was in 7th Grade when this aired.

One of the greatest ...Living in Australia we got the NBC show very early in the morning only for a replay about 1 hour back in the day...Always felt Bryant was always cool under pressure and very relaxed new his stuff backwards and had a great sense of humour Hope his still going well

I tell ya ,this was and Probably be one of the best Send off`s any any Network can send it`s Anchor into the world (Thank You NBC!!!!!!!!!)

59:04 played the 1982 Today theme song when he replaced Tom Brokaw as the Anchor of the Today show and also the credits. That's Nostalgic!

Bryant Gumbel is great! Back in the Beginning he worked with what would become the best of the best: Tom Snyder, Tom Brokaw, etc., etc. KNBC was a launching pad for these great Men!

We had terrible flooding that week down south of there in Sacramento, CA. I was staying with friends whose house was backed up against the American River levee. The river very nearly came to the top of the levee. There were water rescues all over the region that week. By this show’s airing, the weather had cleared in Sacramento, but scores of people came to the American River Access to look at the swollen river, which very nearly ran over its banks.
