NBA’s Greatest Battles: Kobe Bryant (30pts) vs Manu Ginóbili (30pts) (2008 WCF Game 3)

Спорт

Kobe Bryant and the Lakers visit San Antonio up 2-0 in the 2008 WCF looking to take a commanding 3-0 lead. However Manu, Duncan, Parker, and role players like Brent Barry and Fabricio Oberto came ready and blew them out of the water. Kobe has 30, but no one else had a good game for the Lakers.

It's great to see Manu battles against Kobe, because even though Kobe is one of the greatest players of all time, Manu has never backed down from the challenge. Also look for the games against Lebron or KD, Manu against a great player was even greater! a Hall of Famer very soon...

Great competitors and obviously all-around skillset, each with their unique quirks. It was a pity this series did not go 7 games as Manu had injured his ankle prior to the series, missed a couple and hobbled the rest of the series (including this one). This was also the last hurrah of the great run enjoyed by this Spurs team from 2003-08 with several important role players like Bowen and Horry washed up in this season after a tiring 5 year run where the Spurs were so close to winning 5 rings consecutively if not for the infamous Fisher's bogus 0.4 sec shot and Manu's foul in the last play of G7 against Mavs in 06. Also the Lakers were refreshed adding (gifted rather...) All-NBA big man Pau Gasol in the mid-season transfer due to Kobe's demands which in turn changed the entire dynamics of the season for everyone else who were unprepared for this ridiculous move, and I believe several GMs of other teams complained to the league about it.

To students of the game, this was the best individual match up of the 2000's. To watch these two, whether it was Kobe in the post droppin a fadeaway on Manu or Manu droppin a dime to Timmy on the way to a 30, 8 and 8, the talent ( and respect ) these two had for each other is something I will never forget.

@@LebronKobe refs were pretty bad in this series. The ratings were low in the 07 championship that spurs won. So the nba carried lakers through the playoffs hard-core as they spent all season hyping up the Celtics vs Lakers rivalry returning. Lakers were not ready yet, the next year they were. But this 08 season was just refs. The refs even helped lakers get a win or two vs Celtics so it wasn't a sweep.

@@LebronKobe Matchups my boy. Just cos you cant beat one team, doesnt mean you cant beat another. Spurs got fucked over in game 1. They had to sleep on the tarmac in the plane after it could leave New Orleans. They played that night, were up big before losing the lead. Brent Barry got hammered on a buzzer beating 3 with a no call. TBH, if the Spurs win game 1 they may have very well won the series. It was a lot closer than the final margin for the series.

Para tenerlo entero en el último cuarto, que es donde se definen los partidos. En los partidos difíciles Manu terminaba siempre en cancha, y si se definia al final, casi siempre con la última bola.

More like the refs were spurs killers. After spurs extremely low rated 03 championship. The refs carried lakers hard-core to beat spurs in 04 playoffs. And after the fairly low 07 championship that spurs won, the refs carried lakers again in 08 playoffs to hype up the Celtics vs Lakers rivalry returning.
