NBA Players Who CAN'T STAND Michael Jordan..
Welcome back to Sporting Echo, today on the channel we are going to check out the Players who couldn’t stand Michael Jordan + other related news. Just about everybody was a Michael Jordan fan in the '80s and '90s. He elevated basketball like no one else, soaring through the air, hitting impossible jumpers, and leading his Chicago Bulls to six NBA championships. That's to say nothing of his 14 All-Star selections, 10 scoring titles, and five Most Valuable Player awards, among his myriad other accomplishments. Even people who weren't huge basketball fans liked Air Jordan because he was just so dang charismatic in his many off-the-court appearances, showing up in commercials for Nike shoes, sports drinks, and hot dogs, as well as the 1996 cinematic classic Space Jam. (Go Tune Squad!) Millions truly wanted to, as the ad said, "be like Mike," probably the greatest basketball player of all time and certainly the most famous one. But the carefully crafted public image of Michael Jordan was not necessarily the "real" Michael Jordan. In the years since he left his playing days behind, stories have emerged of a man prone to a toxic competitive streak and trash-talking, name-calling, and general nastiness toward other players - both opponents and teammates. Here are some players who are decidedly not riding the Jordan train.
CLYDE THE GLIDE COULDN'T LET IT SLIDE WITH MICHAEL JORDAN. The appropriately nicknamed Dream Team cakewalked to a gold medal in basketball at the 1992 Summer Olympics. Its roster was stacked with so much talent - Karl Malone, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Michael Jordan, to name a few - that Hall of Famers like Chris Mullin and Scottie Pippen wound up as benchwarmers. Not every NBA star of the early '90s could make it onto the Dream Team, of course, but there was one particularly conspicuous absence: Isiah Thomas, Detroit Pistons star and key member of the Bad Boys teams that brought back-to-back titles to the Motor City. He was kept off the team by Michael Jordan, who possessed both the clout and sour grapes (over the Bulls frequent playoff losses to the Pistons) to do so. BILL CARTWRIGHT? MORE LIKE BILL CART-WRONGED-BY-MICHAEL JORDAN. As much of a jerk as it sounds like Michael Jordan could be, he was at least loyal to those who managed to please him. Charles Oakley became one of Jordan's closest friends and allies in the NBA after both players joined the Bulls in the mid-1980s. In the end, Jordan and Oakley didn't get to be BBFFs (that's "basketball best friends forever"), playing together for only three seasons before the Bulls traded Oakley to the New York Knicks for center Bill Cartwright. Stay tuned for more Players who couldn’t stand Michael Jordan + other related news.

Jordan/Jackson made their craft global & they paid with every part of their being what they owe us. They really didn’t owe us anything. They did it their way & how many people get to say that? Kareem, you are not the GOAT! Stop pouting grown men, our little boys are already trying to figure life out. I'm pretty sure Isaiah's remarks about Larry were brought up as a factor as well when considering the Dream Team roster. I'd also say that Kareem's complaint is utter bunk. He got caught up in the political crap and thankfully Jordan, like Wilt before him, didn't get caught up in that sewer. I listen to Wilt's interviews today and realize that he was operating far more evolved standpoint that the backward world we have been stuck in for the last decade or so is trying to yank us away from. Many of the most racist/sexist people today are often labelled "activists", Jordan was right to steer clear of them.

    That's just another reason why no one can ever touch MJ. He didn't just leave those Stars like Malone / Stockton, Barkley, Ewing, Starks Miller, Smitts, Kemp etc, Ringless, but the other 14 players on each of those teams as well. Bottom line is that MJ's existence in the NBA took away AT LEAST 100 players chances at a ring. Like I mentioned earlier, the 88-91 Cavs were a beast with Mark Price, Brad Daugherty, Ron Harper, Hot rod williams, Larry Nance all averaging roughly over 17 PPG in 89-90 with 3 of them averaging over 8 RPG and Price averaging almost 10 APG with 20 PPG, Harper putting up 22/7/7 and 2Spg (and Ehlo with 14ppg) Without MJ in the picture from 88-91 they would have won at least one CHIP if not 2. But he ripped it from them not once but twice (especially on Ehlo). The first time MJ stole the Cavs chances was when he had B2B 50pt performances in games 1 and 2 of the 1988 first round, and then going 39, 44, and 39 in games 3,4,5 averaging 45.5 PPG in that 5 game series. And even with those performances by MJ, the Bulls just edged out the Cavs 3-2. That's how good Cleveland was. The following year in 89, we had another game 5 Bulls vs Cavs where Jordan hit the famous "Shot" sending the cavs home again (this time right at the buzzer with under 3 seconds left to get the inbound and a shot off as the Bulls were down 100-99 with the series on the line. And he hit it at the buzzer as you very well know, also finishing with the GM with 44 points. Jordan sent the Cavs home in 88, 89, 92 and 93. Keeping all those Hall of famers on that Cavs ringless. But those 1988 and 89 5 game series, truly showcased why Michael Jordan is the greatest of all time. Among many other performances in the playoffs. Can we say the same about "the king keeping a bunch of HOFs ringless throughout their careers?" Actually since he's got the most finals losses in NBA history with 33, he's actually helped more opposing players win rings than just about anyone else 😂. And still people dare to compare them.

    @@mugabi9502 yep 👍 let's not forget Sean Kemp and G.Payton (even though Payton did win a ring after joining Shaq and D wade in Miami Heat in his final season in 2006, 11 years after MJ took him out). And the ones u named are just some of the the big names MJ left ringless. Behind those big names were full teams MJ left ringless like John Starks, Mark Jackson, Charles Oakley, Xavier McDaniel etc. Not just Charles Barkley either but Danny ainge, Kevin Johnson, Dan Marjerle etc. And how he absolutely destroyed the Jazz's chance 2 years straight, not only Malone and Stockton, but hornacek and Russell and Ostertag etc. And let's not forget what he did to the cavaliers in the playoffs over and over (poor Craig Elo lol). Hakeem should be thanking the Gods that Jordan left in 94-95 giving him a shot at those two rings. Which if Jordan there, then I am happy Hakeem won it because he's my favorite all-time BIG.

  • @Daveyboy_GolfR

    @Daveyboy_GolfR

    Жыл бұрын

    @@mugabi9502 yeah I messed up on that one. I actually knew Ainge had a couple rings with Bird, DJ, McHale, Parish, Walton etc in the '80s back in his prime. I was almost gonna write Drexler too but just like Hakeem, he took advantage of MJ's absence playing baseball, joining the Rockets and winning in 94 and 95. The one thing I wouldn't say is that the players I named would be considered role players. You named the star players of each team that retired ringless specifically because of MJ, and then I added a few of the main starters from some of those teams. Guys I named were second and 3rd options on those teams. Definitely not bench guys or role players like Starks, Marjerle, Hornacek but I know what u meant. But that's what's so incredible about MJ. He didn't just leave those Stars like Malone / Stockton, Barkley, Ewing, Starks, Miller, Kemp etc, Ringless, but the other 14 players on each of those teams as well. And I know you are aware of everything I just listed in my comment, but I'm hoping other people might read it and learn a little something about Jordan's greatness.
