NBA Players Explain Why Scottie Pippen Destroyed Everybody (Kobe, Jordan, Shaq..)

Спорт

"Whenever they speak Michael Jordan, they should speak Scottie Pippen." - Michael Jordan
🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Pip was a definition of all around player. An absolute monster on defense. Always seemed to make a perfect pass or steal. Probably the most underrated NBA player in history simply because he played next to the greatest ever. His contributions to the team might not show up on stat sheets the way Jordan’s did, but only Jordan could overshadow his contributions.

I'm not going to take away Pippen accomplishments but Jordan molded Pippen to who he is. Jordan and Pippen had extreme work outs with each other in the summer of 1989 and throughout the 89-90 season to be a better player a tougher player mentally and physically. Do you all remember when Jordan retired and gave the keys to the team to Pippen and Pippen couldn't handle the leadership role because it was too much pressure? Remember when Pippen was sitting on the bench wearing a pair of Jordan's and he lifted up his foot to the camera and pointed at the Jordan symbol to motion with his finger for Jordan to come back? Jordan presence alone made Pippen and everyone else on the floor job easier.

  • @Rowgue51

I think people tend not to appreciate just how good pippen was and how instrumental he was to the success of that bulls dynasty. People tend to think jordan just carried the team and while pippen was a really good player he was more of a complimentary piece that was allowed to be better because of all the attention jordan drew. But in reality they had two guys that were the absolute best at their positions in all aspects of the game. Post game, shooting, ball handling, running the offense, setting up teammates, lockdown defense, rebounding. Neither of them had a single weakness that could be exploited, and teams knew when they stepped on the floor they had two legitimate superstars on both ends of the court to deal with.

Scottie was amazing. Did he make enemies? Sure! Did he say some things that may have been whiny or hyperbolic? Maybe, but you can't argue his contribution. No one is perfect. In all the years of watching him play, my favorite play by him was at the end of the famous `Steve Kerr shot," game against the Jazz in the 97 finals. With 5 seconds left he steals the inbound pass denying Utah a last shot. The icing on the cake was getting it to Kukoc who slammed the last points of the game and season. That play showed his defensive skill, determination, and game intelligence when it was critical.

Pippen wasn't the primary defender of the opposing team best player in any of the Finals. Stop spreading this myth that Pippen defender the toughest opponents. For a couple of minutes in the last quarter I feared Phoenix might force a 7th game...Jordan was out, yet there was Scottie getting a huge rebound and asking for time out at the precise moment to calm the team down. There is no such thing as his truth. There are his experiences and his opinions on them. But for it to be the truth it has to be factual. And some of what he says may be. But people were complimenting Jordan and knew he was special as a rookie and when there team was whooped. Pippen played second fiddle to Jordan the bulls with Jordan were immediately playoff bound and later champions, without Jordan struggled and those are just facts. Of course I recognize it is a team effort. I also concede he may not get enough credit but please don't confuse that with him being the GOAT.

I dunno about that. He’s considered a top 50 player. I grew up on that Bulls team and he was pretty much irreplaceable in terms of fit. There’s very few players in my mind in the history of basketball that could have taken his place in that role, with that skill set, that intelligence on defense, that passing ability, that selflessness …that could win 6 chips with that bulls team. In recent history, I’d say Khawi Leonard and Lebron-both at least equal to better athletes. Bruce Bowan maybe-but he’ wasn’t the scorer Scottie was. Bob Horry maybe-but he wasn’t the defender Scottie was. I’m convinced Bill Russell could have played the 3 at a hof level in any era, but it would have looked a little different.

I always think of of it this way Pippen was the second player in NBA history to lead his team in all statistical categories and the first from a playoff team. Dave Cowens was the first and the Celtics weren’t very good that year with stars retiring and missed the playoffs. Phil Jackson said he was the only player who could guard 1 thru 5 . Pippen is definitely one of the best in the NBA. His game I.Q. and skill is uncanny. He and Jordan are the greatest duo the NBA has ever seen... Wow! Unfortunately, the Bulls organization did Pippen dirty with his contract; which he and his agent should've fought against. This is what caused, Pippen's resentment for the Bulls organization along with other team issues. But his style of gameplay is amazing. In fact, any NBA player from 1980's through the 1990's were far better than todays players because the league was harder and tougher back then so the level of skill and court I.Q. was unmatched even today. Although, MJ is the bonafide GOAT of the NBA hardwood, Pippen to me would be a on a list of 10 best in NBA history.

Scotty Pippen would terrorize players defensively, he knew the triangle offense better than the back of his hand, he could finish from any position on the floor. One significant tactic of Phil Jackson was,if MJ was on the bench, Scotty was on the floor and vice versa. More terror for the opposing team was, being attacked by both.

Pip is one of my favorites and he turned out to be a great two way player. He didn't start out that way though. It was those intense work out sessions he had with MJ that pushed him to the next level. Being someone who came up in Chicago during the Bulls championship runs I don't believe Pip to be underrated. I think he has been given plenty of credit for his contribution to those title runs. Few credit him more than MJ himself. That stated, I wouldn't say that he "destroyed everybody". Grant Hill was one SF who used to give Pip a hard time.

Made me forget that I asked him- can you sign my card? *Yeah, You have a pen?* you should’ve seen those tutors and a few other people with him scrambling around to get a pen!! One of the milestones of my life👍🏾 Thanks Scottie! That experience was inspiration for me I’ve never forgotten it!! Mike is Mike but FOR ME it’s SCOTTIE PIPPEN 💪🏿 You’re only as good as your support. *PIPPEN is just different* 💯
