I honestly couldn't say the last Heat game I attended was 2003 to see MJ play one last time with the Wizards, I know around that time the league had the Heat paint their yellow lower level seats a different color because the lack of attendance was so visible. The old arena was such a great place to watch a basketball game the upper level hung over the lower level so the front row uppers had better views than the back aisles in the lower bowl and it was loud, also great views for Panthers Hockey when they shared the Arena.

@@fredmehr-sx2kg Oh wau! That experience must have been amazing! Consider yourself lucky! And thanks for that information! I've actually always wondered why the team changed seats after the 1st (half) season at the new arena and why they dimmed the lighting. That explains everything. Even though I think the new arena was (and still is) among the most spectacular arenas and the old one was ugly, the fact that it was so small probably increased the noise. I was a Heat fan back then because I was a Zo fan and felt bad that the Heat lost in 99 and 2000 to the Knicks, which they should have beaten both years. .

@@jmar5127 embellish what? I didn't say he was absolutely perfect shooting the ball in game 5. His mindset taking it personally was contagious amongst the rest of his teammates and there's no way he was gonna let Miami take another game that series after what Zo did in game 4. Miami's strategy was to muddy up the game, it's really not that surprising his shooting numbers were down a little bit that series but ultimately it didn't matter. He wasn't afraid to keep shooting and keep contributing in other ways as they still won the closeout game rather comfortably.

@@mattnorcia5593 Miami's city skyline from the 90s almost reminds me of Cleveland's skyline of today. The Freedom tower in Miami almost is like a mini Terminal tower in Cleveland IMO. Brickell didn't even have that many buildings back then. Not only that, Miami was founded by native Clevelanders (the Tuttle and Brickell family were from Cleveland). No joke look it up. It's like Cleveland went to the tropics. Both cities are divided in half by an industrial river (what once was). Historically speaking, Miami is the spawn of Cleveland.

The game for the Heat to "win or go home by sweep." Miami had a huge lead in g1, emphasized on defense until GOAT took over again for the win. Games 2,3, and subsequent 5 were cruise control for the Bulls. It's a surprise Brian Williams (later Bison Dele) was a free agent at the start of the 1996-97 season. Almost three years prior, he played a huge part in fairy tale-like run with Denver in 1994 Playoffs. The Bulls signed him to fortify the frontline and perhaps an insurance against the reloaded Knicks, again the ideal Bulls counterpart in 1997 ECF. Dele's stock obviously rose and signed with the Pistons the next year. Having huge guaranteed money could cost his life, reportedly disposed in the vast Pacific Ocean and never to be found. Thoughts and prayers for him and a companion.

im glad i recoded this game live back then and still have it. i remember mj had a bad shooting night..BUT he still almost guided the bulls to the win once he started hitting some shots...it was too late tho.. mourning wacked scottie right across his head in this game that angered mj in game 5 and he refused to shake alonzo hand pregame

There was always something with Jordan vs the Heat. Especially in the playoffs where he would always slap them around silly, putting monstrous numbers against them.

David Stern helped the Heat get past the Knicks and robbed the fans of a 6-7 ECF series between the Bulls and Knicks…and yes, I’m just a bitter Knicks fan. Miss this era of the NBA (Knicks or no Knicks)

Interesting game by MJ. It looks like he just played at about 50% effort for the first three quarters, maybe just to make the 4th quarter interesting. To go from shooting 2/22, then hit his next 7 of 9, or whatever it was, just strikes me as a form of gamesmanship. You could argue that to blow through sweeping your opponents actually diminishes the season, making it easier to argue that the league lacked competition for the dynasty Bulls. Jordan always loved to build drama, developing a story within a game or series, for his legacy and to keep himself interested. They didn’t always pan out, but when you’re up 3-0, it’s no sweat.

Man, you think back to the 97 Magic, injury ravaged, and yet Penny almost carried them to a miraculous first round upset over these Heat. If the Magic hadn't bungled the Shaq free agency (offering an insulting initial contract offer below 100 million, when Mourning had just gotten over that), the Magic could have made a run.

Mj went 0-11 playing all that golf hahaha, then in the 4th he took it personal and GOES OFF for 20 of the Bulls 21! also that lick on Pips head was fuel in the tank. Even Rodman took bow shots and went full WWE UFC at Zoe as retaliation. If Mj didn't have that letdown early, they sweep the Heat here. Miss these games so entertaining unlike this soft era today! How about the NO-EJECTIONS on Rodman and Zoe! unheard of today with that type of physicality!
