NBA Mock Draft: Who Will Be The Top 5 Picks In The 2024 NBA Draft?

The 2024 NBA Draft takes place on Wednesday.
Although the talent level is less stellar than previous NBA draft nights, the lust of knowing which team will make good and bad decisions still lingers nonetheless.
So, in this video we will take a look at the top 5 draft picks for the 2024 NBA Draft.
Going 1st overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, the Atlanta Hawks will likely take Zaccharie Risacher from France. Personally, I think Alex Sarr is a better fit for Atlanta but he has refused to workout for the team.
This means the Hawks are likely stuck with Clint Capela and should take Risacher as he is the safest option at this point. The last thing the Hawks want is another Luka Doncic type moment.
Second overall, the Wizards are expected to take Alex Sarr, also from France.
Not much to say here, the Wizards need post help and Sarr provides it. He also did work out for Washington, so this ones easy.
Third overall, I have the Houston Rockets (thank you James Harden) picking Reed Sheppard from Kentucky.
Sheppard is great shooter and surprisingly athletic defender who should replace Fred VanVleet nicely once the rest of the roster is ready to take the next step.
The move helps the Rockets fill a three-point shooting void they currently have and also gives them comfort in cap-space and roster depth for the long term. Great move for the Rockets if they pick up Sheppard here.
4th overall, the San Antonio Spurs will be on the clock.
At first, I would have liked them to look at a trade around this pick for Zach Lavine as this would give them a great complimentary scorer alongside Wemby, however, they likely wouldn't need to give up a pick this high for Lavine after all.
So, assuming the Spurs keep this pick, I like Stephon Castle for them.
Castle is very strong as a two-way player which the Spurs love and is probably the best dual-threat other than Matas Buzelis who will be available to them.
The Spurs don't have a true answer at point guard yet and Castle with his defensive versatility and playmaking ability could very well be just that.
Lastly here, we have the Detroit Pistons at number 5.
Based on what the Pistons need (shooting help), I really like Dalton Knecht here.
But, the Pistons being the Pistons, I expect them to take a sub-30% shooter from-3 in Matas Buzelis.
Buzelis is arguably more talented and has a higher ceiling than Knecht which is what is likely to entice them. He's also tall for the position he plays, is a good rebounder, and great shot blocker.
Again, the problem is the Pistons need shooting help, but, let Detroit be Detroit.
The rest of my lottery picks assuming no trades occur are:
6 - Charlotte Hornets, Tidjane Salaun, Power Forward
7- Portland Trail Blazers, Ron Holland, Small Forward
8- San Antonio Spurs, Dalton Knecht, Shooting Guard
9- Memphis Grizzlies, Cody Williams, Shooting Guard
10- Utah Jazz, Rob Dillingham, Point Guard
11- Chicago Bulls, Donovan Clingan
12- Oklahoma City Thunder, Tristan Da Silva, Small Forward
13- Sacramento Kings, Kyle Fillipowski, Power Forward
14- Portland Trail Blazers, Johnny Furphy, Shooting Guard
But, what do you guys think?
Will Zaccharie Risacher go 1st overall in the 2024 NBA Draft? Will Alex Sarr get drafted first overall instead?
Will there be any trades or surprise picks in the lottery?

Washington wizards front office has said many times they plan to play at a fast pace. Clingan doesnt match that vision

Agreed, that's why Sarr is the likely pick. Clingan is likely a Walker Kessler type player at best and in a high paced offense a player like that is lucky to give you 25+ minutes a night. I hope you enjoyed the video though, if you did please do subscribe!

Cade is an easy pick with 1st overall, every year outside of that you could question who they took Why take Ivey at 5 when they already had Cade + Hayes (who they just took at 7 a few years before) when they could have taken Mathurin or Sharpe who are more natural wing players than Ivey Killian Hayes, not a good pick at the time and in retrospect Luke Kennard one spot before Mitchell and two before Bam. 11 spots above OG Sekou Dombouya, Henry Elleson, Stanley Johnson (8th overall!) Caldwell Pope (8th also) Since 2013 Cade is the only 1st round pick you can say the Pistons made the best move at the time on They usually draft terrible which is why they usually are terrible I love the 04 pistons so no hate, just a sad reality
