2k has never been able to get bird's jumper right in terms if looks. It was prettier in real life

Fun idea. 🙂 Not very authentic to the actual 1986 Celtics tho. IMHO This looks a lot like current-style basketball. Bird didn't just stand around like this on offense. McHale would be more often in the post. Parish, McHale and Bird would be under the basket aggressively positioning for rebounds on either end. The computer can't seem to be able to replicate McHale's up and under. And the Celtics passing, especially from 1986, isn't reflected at all. I'm not as familiar with the 87 Lakers play peculiarities. But the computer seems to default to current era, which perhaps it can't help. Have you watched The Perfect Game - the 1986 Celtics? The passing, in particular, is just wonderful to see.

interestingly about the celtics they never really had set plays, it was mostly instinct and high IQ basketball. I would like to replicate that style in 2k, but its soo hard to drive and shoots without spacing, the 86 celtics i would say have great spacing and i prefer that much spacing than the over stretched 5 out spacing that modern basketball has. Also what is the 86 motion freelance? is there any sets or freelance that would help me replicate the 86 celtics basketball?
