From April 26th, 2024. Oh 🇨🇦! Drove back out to Centralia Illinois again on a fun late Friday night in my red 2023 ford edge ST to see some more late night rail action including amtrak 59 after seeing Amtrak 21 in Saint Louis and Amtrak 316 at Kirkwood. I got to see 3 unique surprises on two different freight trains out here. This is one of them which I got on video for you all. It’s the hot northbound Canadian National intermodal and auto rack train Z195 cruising on thru Centralia Illinois on track 2 towards Chicago at 11:40 pm not long before Amtrak 59 southbound was scheduled to arrive here from Chicago going to New Orleans. Tonight’s CN northbound Z195 is led by two beautiful and rather shiny Canadian National AC44C6M locomotives back to back. His 2nd unit is the special interest CN “wafer logo” unit #3309. His lead CN unit is #3331. My two friends Kaleb Schafer and Blaise Lambert were also here at the amtrak station with me. We all three talked & shot the bull for a while after amtrak 59 left. I also wore my Edmonton oilers blue and orange home jersey for this 🇨🇦 type of occasion out here too with Z195 The Edmonton oilers also won on the road in regulation out west in Los Angeles california that night over the Los Angeles kings by a final score of 6 to 1 in game 3 of round 1 of the NHL playoffs so this was for them. I’m real glad I went out here instead of staying in Saint Louis for a dull Amtrak 305 and 307. Amtrak 59 was neat this night too with a P42 number 190 leading an ALC-42 phase VII long distance charger and 8 superliners and it was close to on time arriving and departing here at Centralia Illinois too but I didn’t get any video of that.
