Super excited to see the list is going hard on the stax - a huge argument in the RoL discord was around hushbringer effects vs Dockside and I was starting to think no one would appreciate that it just wins through everything except humility.

Great explanation on another Naya cEDH contender! Interesting having a combo piece in the command zone lets you lean either direction from turbo combo like most Rocco/Minsc builds, or go this winconless stax route like Jetmir since there is some inevitability either way

Have you thought of Zhurr Taa Druid as a mana dork and a way to trigger red terror and Heliod without needing to attack?

Especially stax decks for me- it’s my favorite archetype, I’m always up for seeing new builds. Can’t wait for the tayam deck tech ngl

When I saw Shalai and Hallar and saw there's a few 1 card infinite combos that doesn't involve, artifacts, activated abilities, etb triggers, death triggers, or the graveyard I thought man, this can run almost all of the in color stax and just not care. I just new I needed this as my new cEDH deck. Stax has always been my jam. Love the video and gonna tweak my decks a little bit. My meta is almost completely shut down by Ouphe and Torpor orb effects so this is pretty sweet.

Invasion of Gobakhan is an all star in my play testing. It just has so much utility. It can snipe a card an opponent tutors for, the flipside can deal massive damage while buffing your board, AND it protects your combo if you have redundancy. For 2 mana!

As a 40k Nids fan, I am happy The Red Terror combos with a ton of things! Great vid as always.

I’d def go this direction as well, and lean into the assymetric stax. Whether it is better to have combo or draw in the command zone in stax is always the problem, but I agree that Rocco and partners will be better at other styles of play.

Great video. I've been considering using light of promise or sunbond plus something for lifelink for an infinite combo

I saw the potential when the set first spoiled and ordered a shali and halar. Her with all will be one and the ozolith is crazy.

Super excited about this deck! Just took version 1.0 out for a spin and fought through a winota, slicer, and kinnan. Took the W even without the dorks/stax package, and without going infinite. Huge potential even on a relatively limited budget. Honorable mentions that weren't mentioned: All will be one Archangel of thune Phyrexian devourer Signal the clans

I like your list, I have been testing Dromoka's command, as a way to start the kill without having to attack. Also almost all the modes have came up. I had a magda player try to bolt my ouphe so they could go off and command kept my ouphe alive. As of right now I think its a card worth considering and including.

I mean honestly Take up the Shield on commander and Pridemate starts the combo and gives indestructable.

I like your build. I’m going to try out Katilda. I run cindervines in mine. It’s an ok piece of removal but helps when going to combat for the win is a risk

I've been running Sythis as an all-out artifact hate deck where I'm not running a single mana rock. It's cool to see how this deck does everything that deck tries to do, but better. I'm sold. Sorry, Sythis! You'll make a cool casual deck.

For what it's worth Managorger can be a bit of a monster in the right game. Land it early and it's a massive threat. It's been great in Tayam for me, great counter bank as well as an excellent way to threaten life totals.

Just to throw in about Taurean Mauler (and probably Managorger too). I was skeptical about how big they actually get while running Mauler in Minsc & Boo, but dang that thing just gets so huge it's hard for people to deal with it. It''s kinda a different story here, since in M&B the +1/+1 counters contribute directly to card draw and it's purely just burn here. I personally prob wouldn't run them here, but they're cute for sure :3

I can't make it to Minneapolis this weekend, which is a shame because I was excited to hopefully meet you. I'm just getting into CEDH and this is actually a deck I could pilot

I love the deck idea and super excite with the new commander. But I really think Managorger Hydra, Taurean Mauler, and Shalai could be replaced. The first two help but don't really forward the game plan it does bits of damage and might stop a storm deck but I think it might be worth replacing with more stax or a secondary win condition. I didn't see a way for the deck to win if the commander gets stolen with gilded drake or locked out some other way, adding a plan B win condition might be a good idea. Maybe Walking Ballista, Heliod, or an infinite mana combo to win with finale of devastation.

There’s a list on Moxfield with the name “Hey There Shalai’lar” and I feel like that wins best deck name of all time

I'm super excited to see where this deck goes. Only problem is that I'm worried it will just eclipse my beloved Jetmir Stax. The lists aren't 100% identical but they're very similar. Do you think S&H will completely erase what little presence Jetmir had in the meta? Regarding the Rocco comparison, while the decks are very different I think there is a similarity in how they function as commanders. Both Rocco and S&H have combo packages and can be built sot of along a continuum from heavy stax to turbo combo. I think their respective best builds fall at very different places on that continuum, but I think I see an underlying similarity.

Emiel even wins with devoted druid + swift reconfiguration + commander, a win that i actually got with this deck.

thoughts on the new sigarda in this list over shalia or just in addition being able to make your tutors which put cards to the top castable seems really strong where we have a combo piece of the commander but not sure if we should play shalia and sigarda

Great deck! what I love is the deck also can adapt with tribal hydra eff which is dump X +1/+1 counters. also Im not really sure if forgotten ancient would be good in this deck since moving counters is also part of put counters right?

I have forgotten ancient in my build, and I think it earns its keep.

The more I think of the managorger in this deck….the more insane it gets….it stops spellslinger decks and if you have shlalar out with the red terror or heliod it basically locks out your opponents from playing spells. This may be essential if you’re unable to get damage in via combat 🤷🏻‍♂️

How did I not see this before!?! This is my next mission. I have it in a casual deck build not far from this list

Kinda crazy that even in a deck that plays like 10 hate cards for dockside I can't help but wonder if you should play it anyway...

This seams like just an updated version of Marath. What do you think about the trade you're making for the a slightly easier combo kill, but the lack of flexibility with the commander? having Marath be both an infinite mana outlet and a pseudo stax piece in the command zone has always been a draw for me. I'll have to sleeve this up and see which one i like better.

Not sure how I'd build it, but it does seem like a much better heliod

If you were gonna mana gorger or taurean mauler wouldnt this be the case in which forgotten ancient would be better? when you move the counters another dome hit?

I was working on a shalai hallar list myself and Im glad to see my list was pretty similar to yours. I 100% agree on war elemental, the card is awful

The nice thing about Elemental in this deck is you can get it out with Birthing Pod/eldritch evolution and avoid the triple red pips. With a solid chunk of low cmc creatures it's not hard at all

Do you think Avacyn Angel of Hope would be a good addition to this deck?

Yeah exactly, the commander doesn't provide any advantage under a rule of law. Basically asking to concede to decks like kinnan and Winota

Rather than compare this to Rocco, I would look at the parallels to Minsc, Beloved Ranger, as that deck can also be built in a similar way as a Stax list with multiple 1-card combos with the commander to win the game.

Is there a reason we are not, as a community, throwing Outland Liberator in the bin for Cankerbloom? You'd think a proliferate effect could make this deck pop off. I'm doing it in my Etali deck just bc I hate Day/Night, lol

We play many effects that invalidate it and have almost no way to gain life if it costs us a bunch

This is slow my deck only has 2 four drops the rest is 1 and 2 and 5 cards that is 3 I have 6 cards that can put +1 on cards if you gain life I have 6 cards that give lifeline and plus 1 on a creature I have cards that give lifelink
