The Army has actually just recently in 2022 reactivated the 11th Airborn and they are now stationed in Alaska. They even still have their "Angels" nickname... only this time they are the "Arctic Angels."

the angels were absolutely amazing...as were the 77th...the only division that were adopted by the Marines..My grandfather was an island hopper and was involved in the invasion of Okinawa....and was slated to be in the 3rd wave of the invasion of mainland Japan...so basically a death sentence...those Men were above us....and amazing in My estimation....

There actually is a glider in Saving Private Ryan btw, it didn't get any badass scenes though. It was just the pilot that Tom Hanks's group came across with the dead General inside of it. The pilot throws them a bag of dog tags and basically dips out for the rest of the film.

When Niji announced they would consolidate ID to EN, I figured "Yeah, they pretty much speak English." Big surprise that she wasn't part of that. She probably refused to be part of that and I'm thankful if she did.

Not to be that guy, but that film was for the liberation of a POW camp that took place a month previous. I'm only saying because that mission was recounted in one of my favorite books of all time, Ghost Soldiers.
