Great info, Ms. Brenda. I’ll be sure not to rub my eyes after getting out of the pool! Appreciate you sharing your experience on the swim test with us. Thank you!

Maks No I didn’t mean after you get out the pool, I meant while you are learning to get comfortable in the water and learning to float or The other swim strategies. They don’t want you getting distracted by the hair and your face or all that other stuff. Once you get out of the pool doesn’t matter

Brenda Besos Thanks for clarifying that! I ship out next month. Although one can never be fully prepared for boot camp, I’ve been watching a lot of videos for tips and studying my DEP start guide books. I’m not a fast learner, so I figured why not make things less complicated. Lol.

Maks Make sure you bring your study guide with you to Boot Camp because they allow you to study it whenever you get the chance. I wish you the best!

Thank you so much for this! I ship out in December 2019, but I don’t know how to swim yet. Today was my first day working on learning how to swim. Today we just focused on learning how to exhale under water and it was extremely difficult for me. I’m not afraid of being under water while holding my breath, but exhaling under water freaks me out. But I’m so determined to learn how to swim before I go to boot camp because I want to do my best when I get there, so I want to be prepared. Im also working on getting in the best shape of my life, I’m going to the gym almost everyday, exercising, and running more.

Faithful Dani I also had problems with exhaling underwater. The best thing to do I think is to start humming. When you are humming underwater, the water does not go up your nose and you are gently exhaling little by little without even realizing it. Yes keep working out that way you don’t get held back and keep up with your division. Wish you the best!
