The new episode is going to tell you about the legendary battleship that became a symbol of the end of World War II.
On the eve of the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, which marked the beginning of the Pacific War, we're going to tell you about a legendary battleship that became a symbol of the end of the Second World War-Missouri. On September 2, 1945, the Japanese Instrument of Surrender, which officially marked the end of World War II, was signed on board this famous ship.
The ship participated in numerous operations after the end of World War II. Her name was struck off the naval register only in 1995-not that long ago by historical standards. But how did the ship manage to maintain her efficiency throughout the years?
Naval Legends is a series about the construction, service, and daring deeds of legendary 20th-century ships.

Which Missouri? The one that can give large amounts of credits per battle (Legacy Variant), or the slightly worse Iowa with a semi-modified model (0.10.7 Variant)?

I’ve been there when I was 18 with my sister. I was imagine what that pilot was thinking just before the impact. Was melancholy at first but realistically probably “Death to America all hail Emperor” or “Mom they didn’t tell me how to land” Just made a speech about Pearl Harbor today, there was a half Japanese friend ish that presented right before me. Its her birthday she explained how she felt adversity because she was half Japanese. She even freaking winked at me when I showed Mount Fuji, damn I feel bad for her. it was pre-prepared I’ve stayed neutral. The black tears of Pearl Harbor was a scene

Married my wife whos from Japan on beach of Oahu back in June of 2019 and we went to Pearl Harbor after our wedding and both got to stand on USS Missouri at the very spot where Japan had surrendered. It was very surreal to think of how different the world was just 78 years ago and that our union would have been unthinkable back then. Even more ironic because I looked around the main deck of the ship near Turrent #2 where my wifes country finally gave up their pride and surrendered, half the tourists we saw were Japanese with translator guides. My wife was very open minded and courious to see the "American" version of history as she had been tought differently growing up in Japan in the late 80s and 90's about Pearl Harbor and the ar. I was however REALLY BUMMED out I couldn't see/pay respects to the Arizona because it was closed due to damage to the anchor system. Would have been another childhood dream come true on that trip. When I first got off the tour bus, I had a wave of emotion, feeling just awe to know that I was at the very spot where so much history was created and so much life was lost, all I could do was say a prayer before I kept going.....

It's only been 80 years since the most devastating war in human history, yet we today are much closer than we think to it since our grandparents most likely endured it and went through those 6 tough years. Yeah there's absolutely no way the Navy will ever recommission these ships, unfortunately. Too expensive to maintain, operate, and crew, obsolete in an age where air superiority is everything, there's really nothing a battleship can do that our modern fleet can't accomplish as is. Sad, but it's just not practical.

Probably because she’s overrated and causes the other Iowa’s (especially New Jersey, the most decorated battleship in USN history) to be not deserve any recognition on anything. Missouri is everywhere: merchandise, video games, movies and everything man. Where’s USS New Jersey in a movie or videogame? She’s overrated. It doesn’t discredit the stuff she actually did, but those things shouldn’t give her superiority over the ships that outdid her. It’s unfair to those ships. Also it doesn’t help that girl in the BTS for Battleship said that Missouri was “the most important battleship in history”. Like, how? I guess USS Enterprise, USS New Jersey, USS Constitution, HMS Victory and HMS Warspite don’t exist…

He turned on his signal light, aimed it out towards the fleet, and flashed out the signal, "Cease Fire, Cease Fire." So, he actually sent the last signal of WW II. Back in the 1950s he was brought to New York to be on a TV show called “We the People” where they interviewed him about his experiences. All of the remaining battle ships have been reconditioned by Eo of president Reagan. They are all in working condition and battle ready. They all have sleleten crews that keep everything working. If you get a chance to go to Hawaii go onboard the Missouri. Every station is lit up, there are signs everywhere saying "DO NOT TOUCH"! The biggest reason for the old war horses to be in battle ready condition is as a result of enemy EMP's that can shut down the modern "battle ships".

The Musashi and Yamato were the symbol of brute force, but they lack some versatility, the US navy had their ships much more flexible to deal with many situations. Battleships today obviously cannot match the modern warfare, even the Iowa class. But if the Navy one day upgrades the Missouri with more ATA guns and better missles, it may become a powerful sieging ship and serve the US once again

i wish wows did it so that for example everytime you get a new ship, you can choose what ship in that class you want, and then get that, so for example if i unlock the tier 9 iowa, i can play missouri instead, it would add some much needed diversity to the game instead of always seeing the exact same ships

As of writing he's 99 an still in decent health. He's a founding member of a Veteran's museum in Media PA. He has a full detail 1/10? scale model of the ship at his home that i have loved since a child.

Fact - because of the current seat President in office at that time of ww2 officially ended was Harry S.Trumman, he was from Missouri. It took place onboard her deck. If FDR live long enough, it will actually be Iowa took the glory but nobody in neither Navy or in the armed forces or historian talk argue cause "Meh~, the war is over, we should rest"
