Thank you for this amazing piece on our beloved HMAS Diamantina. In 2020, we have been marking the ship's contribution to the end of WW2, in which she took two Japanese surrenders onboard her quarterdeck (Nauru and Ocean Island). Check out our new KZread channel as we create and upload more content about Diamantina and our other exhibits.

Congratulations for producing such interesting and fairly accurate mini-documentaries of ships. It was the Australian ships which attracted my interest having served in the RAN in the 60's. My ship (HMAS Derwent) served alongside the Vampire who you covered and saw all of the same ports and fun. G'day to all you fellow 'Greenies.'

A great feature of Brisbane's 'South Bank', and well worth a visit to our lovely city. I've been to weddings held on the grounds and there are numerous historic displays. Long live the 'Tina' and a big 'well done' to the Queensland Maritime Museum volunteers who maintain this great vessel. (Double Thumbs Up).

as someone who walks by this ship everyday, i could hardly see this ship as a premium unless it was tier one, it does not have torpedo armament and only having two 102mm guns will effect game play as there are no submarines in the game...

She's not going anywhere, the Commonwealth and State governments are responsible for funding preserved WW2 ships. She's actually in great condition, in the 2011 floods she floated in her drydock fine with no leaks. They just hooked a generator to a bilge pump and she sat happily afloat.

SLNS Gajabahu, formerly HMCS Hallowell (K666) served as a convoy escort during World War II and later transferred to the Israeli Navy and then the Royal Ceylon Navy, which later became the Sri Lankan Navy. She was withdrawn from active duty in 1980 and is now used as a training ship by Sri Lanka.

Nearly half of the River Class were built by Canadian shipyards. Why doesn't this one have a Hedgehog anti-submarine mortar on display? This was the first class of British warship to carry the Hedgehog as standard equipment. The Hedgehog could be quite effective against Japanese submarines as demonstrated by the exploits of USS England.

If they put frigates like this in the game (to counter the possible addition of subs as a class) then it would be totally useless against anything else. Two 4" guns aren't enough to properly defend itself against destroyers and at 20 knots it is slower than most battleships. The only way it could work is if this particular ship was tier 2.

...Because someone from England should really be expected to know the origin of the name of an Australian river, right? That's not our job. No countries have been claimed under QEII primarily because there aren't any countries left to claim; they all belong to other people. And the fact that a river isn't in a specific part of Australia really means that HMAS Diamantina was named after a Brazilian mountain, doesn't it? Besides, when I Googled "Diamantina River" and saw "The Diamantina River is a major river located in Central West Queensland and the far north of South Australia," I naturally assumed that at least part of this river went through an area called "South Australia." Is that not correct?
