The real meaning behind the story is based solely around a 19th century legend which involves a young deaf boy who has fled from his home because he is being abused and as he left, he found a stray dog that kept him company since then. After living on the streets for a large amount of time he finds out that he has the ability to find out people’s troubles, he can then heal them by screaming (This is when he has his fingers in his ears, and doing the "La la la" part). This screaming was rumoured to be as loud as an earthquake or even a tornado. The boy finds a man (The gray faced guy), who is being stoned by other villagers whilst being shouted at. The boy uses his ability to find out what is wrong with him and repairs the old man’s heart (this is the part in the video where he buys the man a heart). The boy and the old man then meet a disfigured man (Traffic guard guy aka sock monkey) who was abused and seen as a dodger of society. Using his powers the boy finds out that the man is a prophet who was cursed by El Tio because he simply didn’t worship him and left the area that the demon lived. El Tio was considered as a lord of the underworld, mortals offered him gifts for his protection and to lessen his anger. The prophet told the boy that anyone who could hear El Tio would immediately fall under his full control. He also tells him that El Tio could be found in the desert, where there used to be a small town that worshipped El Tio but he cursed them to kill themselves. As a group they all cross the desert and enter the mine in which holds the demon, however they didn’t want to be cursed so only the little boy entered and as he was deaf, he was unable to be controlled by El Tio and he used this special ability to over voice him and stop him from cursing others. Basically, the boy was a sacrifice To answer a couple questions: One day, this song came up in my recommended. And I wanted to know the meaning, so I googled it and decided to share it here bc it's an interesting story. The story is a legend, which means it all might not make sense. The boy makes a sacrifice bc he gives up his whole life, for eternity to keep a demon occupied. Some fun facts: Uyuni salt flats (El Salar de Uyuni) is shown in the video. They filmed there, as well as La Paz, and Cerro Rico. It's told like a story, and it's part of Bolivian culture: "El Tío is believed in Cerro Rico, Potosí, Bolivia to be the "Lord of the Underworld". There are many statues of this devil-like spirit in the mines of Cerro Rico. El Tío is believed to rule over the mines, simultaneously offering protection and destruction."

This song its about a legend from Bolivia (a latin american country) the kid is deaf and his father is bad,so the kid run away. He finds the dog, and help a old man (en the legend,a bullies were hitting him) then, both of them find a guy who was in a satanic group but he desert and "el tío" (satan,in Bolivian culture) disfigurement his face,thats why hi is cover it. They go to the cave of "el tio" and the legend said that "el tio" sing all the feelings of hate and that kind of thing,and the people get corrupted and kill each other. Its then when the old man,the dog and the guy with a mask say goodbye to the kid, so as not to get corrupted they leave. And the kid stay, because he is deaf so he cant get corrupted,and he begans to sing to "el tio" to keep him calm for the whole eternity I am from Bolivia, in the city were this was filmed, i like this video and i wanted to share the legend with you, sorry if I have a bad english,in the best i can do :)

So he stayed behind and used his voice to be louder than the demon and overcame him, keeping the village safe. He had to stay there forever to sing to the demon and keep him away

Along the way he meets a stray dog, a man being stoned by the villagers, and a man who is "different" and is rejected by society. The eventually find the cave of the El Diablo (the devil) in the desert. Only the boy can enter because he cannot hear El Diablo's influence. If the others try to enter they will be influenced. The boy stays in the cave to drown out the voice of the devil with his own, so no one will be influenced by El Diablo. Hopefully this helped.

The video has an open ending, unsure whether the boy survived or not but considering that El Tío is the lord of the underworld who rules the people of that town in Bolivia... . The child could be seen as a great sacrifice to redeem the people from the undesirable influence of El Tío.

For those who don’t know the Bolivian legend, the video can be portrayed in a very different way linking with the story of The Wizard of Oz, it starts with the little boy representing Dorothy, as he leaves on his own he finds the dog, this could be a link to Toto, the dog that Dorothy owns, or as the name of the dog in the La La La video is Chow Chow, which translates as ‘little lion dog’ this could mean that the dog is also linked with Zeke, the cowardly lion from the movie, he could be with her as he needs courage, you then also meet the old man for whom which the boy buys the heart for, this links to Hickory the tin man who needs a heart, the last and final character you meet in the music video is the man who is signalling traffic, as is set up in costume to look like a scarecrow, he must be Hunk, he needs a brain and wants to aspire with more in his life. They then all make the journey over the desert, which in the story of The Wizard of Oz would be the yellow brick road up to The Wizrad, the 3 characters then get what they desire from him and leave Dorothy (the little boy) with the wizard to be sent back home.

It feels like you wrapped a storm in a beautiful melody.

*So many questions regarding the story of the video. So here goes. Once and for all*. It is based around a 19th century Bolivian legend which involves a young deaf boy who fled his home because of abuse and as he left, he found a stray dog that kept him company since then. After living on the streets he discovers he has the ability to *find out people’s troubles* , he can then *heal them by screaming*. The boy finds a man who is being stoned by other villagers whilst being shouted at, the boy uses his ability to find out what is wrong with him and repairs the old man’s heart ( _this is the part in the video where he gives the man a heart_ ). The boy and the old man then meet a disfigured outcast man who was abused. Using his powers the boy realises that the man is a prophet who was cursed by *El Tio* because he didn’t worship him . *El Tio* was considered as a lord of the underworld, mortals offered him gifts for his protection and to lessen his anger. The prophet told the boy that anyone who could hear *El Tio* would immediately fall under his full control, he also tells him that *El Tio* could be found in the desert.They all cross the desert and enter the mine, however they didn’t want to be cursed so only the little boy entered and as he was deaf, he was immune to *El Tio's* control. He used this special ability to over voice him and stop him from cursing others. For those confused, i searched it for you! Music video revolves around an oral Bolivian legend from 19th century which concerns a deaf boy who fled abusive home and found a stray dog which accompanied him since then. Living on the streets for quite a time he discovers that he has special talent of percepting people's troubles which he can heal by screaming a scream which is said to be as loud as an earthquake and tornado. One day he finds an old man who gets stones thrown at him by villagers and or is stoned by them and ridiculed and taunted at, by screaming the boy resolves the situation and somehow revives his heart(by buying him a new heart in the video). Along the way they meet a disfigured man who was abused and was considered a leper by society, he reveals that he is a prophet who was cursed by a demon(El Tio) because he didn't worship him and abandoned the society where this demon resides. El Tio is considered as the lord of the underworld whom people offer gifts to be protected by him or to ease his anger.[3] The prophet said anybody who could hear the demon could fall under his control. He told that the demon could be found in desert where was once a town in which people worshipped the demon and he cursed them to kill themselves. Together they go to the place where the demon should reside. They arrive at a mine where the demon is supposed to be but everybody could be cursed who is able to hear the demonic curses, thus the boy alone only could go to the demon and overvoice him with his scream to stop him from cursing others.The music video deliberately alludes to the story of the Wizard of Oz in an effort to conceal the legend from those unfamiliar with it.

Затем они встречают изуродованного мужчину, которого оскорбляли и считали прокаженным для общества. Изуродованный человек поведал, что он является пророком, который был проклят демоном «Эль Тио» из за того, что он не поклонялся ему и отказался от общества которое поклонялось ему (где жил демон) . Эль Тио - повелитель преисподней, которому смертные приносили дары чтобы он их защищал, либо чтобы уменьшить его гнев. Пророк сказал, что каждый, кто услышит демона - попадет под его контроль. Демона можно найти в пустыне, где был город, в котором люди поклонялись демону, но он проклял их и они поубивали самих себя. Вместе они пошли туда, где должен быть демон. Мальчик один должен был пойти в шахту, где логово демона, и с помощью своего голоса одолеть его. Шахту еще с древних времен использовали люди. Шахтеры время от времени жертвовали демону лам, чтобы тот их не проклял. С одной стороны мальчик мог стать самой большой жертвой, которая способна откупить шахтеров от влияния демона. С другой стороны только мальчик мог одолеть демона, так как другие люди не способны сами себя освободить.🥺☺️

There was once a little boy who was born deaf. His family abused him, so he ran away from home and settled on the street. Then the boy went to the cave where El Tio dwelt, and turned the power of his mighty voice against the evil spirit. El Tio could not resist the boy, because he was deaf, and El Tio's main weapon was the voice. So the boy delivered people from the evil spirit. heres the meaning behind this video. (Your welcome) (Copied this off a page xD) It doesn't happen often that a music video keeps me up at night, thinking about every little detail. 'La la la', a single by British artist Naughty boy and singer/songwriter Sam Smith, had me tearing up while watching the music video. Later on, it was even harder brushing off the storyline of the clip. Basically the video is a Bolivian legend about a deaf boy with special powers living on the streets. The video, shot in just 4 days in La Paz (Bolivia) leans toward ‘The Wizard of Oz’ when you look at the visuals, but actually has more depth and drama than a pair of ruby red slippers. Below is an excerpt on the Bolivian legend as found on Wikipedia: The music video revolves around a word of mouth Bolivian legend, from the 19th century, which concerns a deaf boy who fled from his abusive home and found a stray dog that accompanied him since then. After living on the streets for long time he discovers that he has a special talent of perceiving people's troubles, which he can heal by screaming. His screaming is said to be as loud as an earthquake and a tornado. One day, the boy finds an old man who is being stoned by villagers while being taunted and ridiculed. By screaming, the boy resolves the situation and revives the old man's heart (in the video, the boy buys a new heart for the man). Together, they meet a disfigured man who was abused, considered a leper by society. The disfigured man reveals that he is a prophet who was cursed by a demon (El Tio) because he didn't worship him, and abandoned the society where the demon resided. El Tio is considered as the lord of the underworld, to whom mortal people offer gifts to him in order to be protected by him or to ease his anger. The prophet said anybody who could hear the demon would fall under his control. He told them the demon could be found in desert, where there once was a town in which people worshipped the demon and he cursed them to kill themselves. Together they go to the place where the demon should reside. They arrive at a mine where the demon is supposed to be, but anybody who enters and could be cursed after hearing the demon speak. And so the boy alone could go into the mine to meet the demon and over voice him with his scream to stop him from cursing others.

It doesn't show up on phone but basically what the rest says is that the boy is deaf and in the Bolivian legend his scream is louder than anything else on earth, but here it is a song rather than a scream. So the boy finds a man who has been abused and stuff and uses his song to help him thus 'giving him a new heart' and in the video he buys a heart (wtf). Then they find the other dude who has be outcast from his tribe or something because he didn't worship the Bolivian satan or something, so they go to a cave where that satan dude is and the cave is cursed so that anyone who hears the satan speak dies or something, so the boy who is deaf goes in there and sings and overpowers the satan. The end.
