Aloha! Join me as I take a look back at the plants that made this year's naughty and nice list. These are the houseplants that either performed better than the rest for me all year long or the ones that gave me the most trouble over the past year.

Wow, that calathea white fusion is amazing! I love calatheas, but when I got a white fusion the white parts always always always turned brown within a few weeks. I couldn't find anyone who had a white fusion living well as a houseplant, so I just gave up on it and assumed it only really survives in a greenhouse. Nice to see it actually working as a houseplant!

I'm new to the houseplant life - I bought 6 different plants in less than 1 month. My youtube watchlist is full of videos about plants, but this video was so fulfilling, so creative, and fun to watch, that I couldn't not comment! Kudos! I'm in love with the plants I chose from Home Depot , but especially my brand new calathea medallion. I'm worried of how difficult it is portrayed, just wish me luck :)

I think I need to repot my Brasil. It is not doing great. My Micans is in the same area and has also not been repotted in a long time, but it is growing like a weed! I keep thinking I’m going to repot my pink syngonium, too, but it keeps looking fine despite being in the same soil for over 2 years so I keep putting it off! Your Calathea White Fusion is beautiful! It almost tempts me to get one!

@@cooki.monsta I have 4 calatheas right now. I got them this year I think I got two of them in October. They are still alive. One is an orbifolia 😁 and it is still alive. I am putting water conditioner in their water and it is working so far. The orbifolia has a few crunchy spots but it's not dead. The other is the same. The medallion I got at Lowes and I got it in October too. I am not sure it will make it but I hope it will. I just hate mealy bugs. Oh and I have a rattlesnake calathea too. Honestly, with my white fusion I don’t really do anything special. The key was getting rid of the spider mites first. But other than that she just lives about 4 or 5 feet back from an east facing window with frosted glass, I water her when she needs it, which is probably about once every 20 days in my home conditions, I fertilize her once a month with my liquid fertilizer of choice, and that’s about it. She’s responsible for the rest.💚

Cut back all of the runners on your exotica right to the base and leave a node. I collect them and regularly give them a haircut and start new plants. I especially do this when there is a huge gap between leaves which is rare for me because I keep them in direct sun in winter and indirect light in summer.. You also might want to repot it to a larger pot. They will have a growth spurt in spring and trail again

  • @AlohaPlantLife

Maranta are pretty easy since they are the only ones that vine and there are very few species of maranta. The rest can be a little trickier. Let me think on it and see if I can come up with something helpful but not confusing lol. It also is sometimes hard to see the key differences when the plants are young which is frustrating.
