Naturehike Cloud Up 1 Upgraded 1 Person Backpacking Tent Review

Спорт

Here is my naturehike tent review. This naturehike cloud up 1 tent was purchased from Naturehike own store on Amazon. This is a true solo backpacking tent that weighs just 1547 grams, making this an ultralight 1 person tent.
The naturehike cloud tent is 230 cm long x 105 cm wide and 100 cm in height. The porch area is a roomy 65 cm. This is a big one person tent.
Buy from Camperlists for £78 here: www.camperlists.com/collectio...
I am really impressed with the quality of the naturehike cloud up tent. All parts appear to be really well made. I was not expecting the standard to be so high on a budget tent. This is the cloudup1 20d version that uses a higher quality material compared to the cheaper 210t version.
The tent can be purchased here: amzn.to/2S4JPWX on the Amazon Prime Naturehike UK Store.
I first saw the Naturehike Cloud Up 2 tent whilst watching a KZread Video by Summit or Nothing ( • Wild Camping in a Stor... ) where it out-performed a much more expensive MSR tent. I then went on to watch other videos and they had me sold on Naturehike. It's only fair I credit summit or nothing with this one.
I 'm 172cm tall (5' 8") so I didn't feel the need for the two person tent, especially after reading on Naturehike's website that the 2 person tent is only marginally larger. This naturehike one person tent is the perfect size for me. It's worth noting the Naturehike one person tent is actually longer than the Naturehike 2 person tent.
When lockdown ends I will test this out almost immediately so please subscribe and you will be notified when my tent review comes out. This is a perfect wild camping tent, especially for 3 season wild camping uk trips. I think you'll struggle to get such a good backpacking tent for the money.
I hope you like this naturehike review. If you do please give me a thumbs up and let me know if you have any questions in the comments section below. If there are any camping tents that you think are better value for money please tell me.

I have this same model and used many times in the wild and never had an issue in the cold wet and windy Irish weather! Bone dry and sturdy everytime. Couple of tips though, 1) instead of inserting the poles directly after the laying and pegging the ground sheet, instead lay the inner layer over the groundsheet and then insert the poles, otherwise you have to remove the poles from the groundsheets eyelets and insert them again to allow the inner tent to be secured to each corner. Then insert the pegs to the groundsheet as this allows for better spreading. 2) I removed all the tent and groundsheet from their individual bags and pack them all together in one small 3 liter dry bag, apart from the poles and the pegs I keep these in their original bags and pop the pegs into the pole bag, this easier to unpack and repack the whole tent as you don't need to roll it up perfectly and you can cram the inner, the outer and the groundsheet into the same bag.

Nice review. Mine has just arrived and I'm very pleased. One reason I chose this over the cloud up 2 was that this is supposed to be longer. I'm 188cm ( 6'2") tall and no regrets at all. Plenty of room for gear, or even a additional small person in an emergency. Mine will be for bikepacking and backpacking.

Good review, thanks. How about when the tent gets wet? I like the look of the army green version of the cloud up, but its fabric is nylon like yours I believe... When it has rained all night, doesn't the nylon absorb some of that wetness? If yes I'll probably opt for the polyester version which as far as I understand is much more water resistant. I saw a video of a very similar tent where the tent had expanded a lot after the rain making it a pain to pack, and wet too.

The funny thing is that the I length of the Cloud up 2 Upgraded is actually shorter than their 1 person tent. So if you are taller and only need a 1 person tent that one would be the better choice (supposedly 20cm longer!). Also the vestibule is 5 cm longer. Of course not as wide though. What has your experience been with the window? My experience with a Big Agnes UL tent ($$$) that used that window design was that the velco patch could not hold the window flap closed in a wind, the rod that props the flap open funneled rain into the tent, and that the velcro patches weren't sealed inside, so rain just dripped through onto the mesh. It looks like it would cause real problems if the wind was from the door's direction -- but you also can't rotate this tent so that the wind is from the sides, as it isn't well supported from the sides with its pole design.

The 20D version is the more expensive version. It uses a 20D nylon fabric which is superior and it weighs less too. There's not a lot between the 1 and 2 person Cloud Up tents. I went for the one person tent to save a little bit of weight and to fit that little bit more in my backpack.

Hi! I have a question: how does this tent behave in very strong windy conditions? I have a fear that because of the Y poles it might not stand as strong as a X pole version - of course depending on the wind direction. You really must take care of the position you set up the tent? What's your experience with that? Thanks so much in advance!

  • @BackpackingUK

    @BackpackingUK

    3 жыл бұрын

You're right, you need to be really careful which direction you pitch your tent. From the back it's very streamlined. From the side it is not! There's a bit of flapping on the sides if the wind changes direction. Personally, I won't take any budget tent in really windy conditions. However, if placed correctly and if the wind does not change direction, this Naturehike CLoud Up 1 tent would be ok in winds.

I prefer tents exactly for 1.5 person because you have some space for your baggage, but there is no place for other person, that's ultimate life hack for camping with other people. I have no problem let someone sleep in my tent, but you know people, they are drunken while camping and I don't want vomit inside, I want to just sleep there. Other people are always like "I don't need tent, I just use someone's tent," I understand it, it's enough to take 2 big tents when you are traveling with 4 people, but it's also very irresponsible count on that, I travel mostly by train, so they just can't force me carry some big tent for more people, they are traveling by cars and they are lazy even take some extra tent, I just don't understand it, why should I carry that? People are weird.

  • @BackpackingUK

There's a vent at the top of the front door which is the highest part of the tent. The tent inner is fully breathable. If you wanted to you could keep the outer door open and inner shut and this would stop any condensation. I've just got back from a trip to Wales and, unlike my mates MSR tent, there was no condensation at all.
