Doing something as simple as taking your dirty shoes off at the door shows that you care and appreciate all the work your wife does. It speaks huge volumes about your love for her.

He built the house and cleans it too, nice! I use vinegar for most of my cleaning as well, with water and mint oil in it. Occasionally that Murphy oil soap for a deep scrub down.

I loved the line, sSacy is not the only one who knows how to mix up some essential oils. Nice work. The wood work looks great! It is amazing what my wife does. It can be easy to over look until she sick or gone for a day. It becomes very apparent how amazing she is and how much she does. Blows me away.

I sanded & laid our wood floors with an air-gun, my husband did the cutting for me. And I used plywood. laughing... I sealed them with an oil, then "waxed" them. I made my wax with coconut oil thickened with a little beeswax & carnauba waxes. I gently warmed it all in a can in a pot of water, adding coconut oil until it was an easy wipe on & I wiped with another small old rag as I went to be sure it was not too much. Coconut oil does not rot, the way olive oil does & smells a lot better to me. I only do the wax stuff every 2 or 3 years & they still glow when I give them a quick clean every month or 3. When I clean the floor, a little vinegar in water works for me. I live in the forested mountains & dirt used to be a problem until I pulled out the plastic flooring & carpet. Wood cleans up so much nicer & quicker. It has been over 5 years & they are still great.

This really works! I have just cleaned my solid oak floor. My husband does Parquet flooring professionally and approves of the natural products in this recipe. I wanted a moisturised look without a waxy slippery and dangerous surface... and that is exactly what it does. Thank you. I must add.... it would have been nice if people had left comments on the wonderful results and not chit-chat nothingness. So here I am... to say try it everyone... a brilliant solution AND natural. Thank you Doug

For anyone interested- placing a water proof outdoor rug at your front entrance and a smaller rug inside at the front entrance helps reduce dirt in the home (house/apartment). I read this in a catalog and decided to try it and I have to say, I’m impressed. I have two dogs so this really helps reduce dirt and dog tracks inside the home.

I notice that you have some oil lamps about. Have you ever tried a "Aladdin" oil lamp? They are a little more expensive than a traditional oil lamp, but they really put out the light! They use a mantle (like a Coleman lantern). They are great to light up a room or to read by.

Query: I assume those stairs you were greasing up are up to a loft bedroom? If so have you considered putting some rubber pads on them for friction and a hand rail? Not necessarily for today but for the whole aging in place not want to fall down them and break a hip days when you are an older unit than you are now. We are going to put them over our stairs to the basement.
