What are all the other CHEMICALS ingredients in the toothpaste. Read the ingredients to your audience. Coconut oil with Baking Soda and a drop of extract or essential oil is The safest to put in your mouth. Toothpaste should be chemical free.

While I think it is based somewhat on personal preference and I no longer have the labels with me as we have used up these toothpastes, I would say the Dr. Bronner's would be the healthiest with ingredients.

You guys are so funny! I've been meaning to try the Dr Bronner's one. My kids like the Jason sea fresh one. This month from the co-op I ordered the Weleda salt one and an Auromere one. I'm excited to try them out.

Auromere tastes great, I use the anise flavor. I worry about the sourcing of the chalk they use and it contains sulfates, which are good even if they're coming from coconuts. I use it though aka like it a lot. It comes in mint as well. Fine Chalk (a gentle cleanser), Glycerine (from vegetable oil), Water, Herbal extract blend: [Peelu (Salvadora persica), Neem (Azadirachta indica), Indian Licorice root, Pomegranate rind, Common Jujube, Rose Apple, Clove, Persian Walnut, Barleria prionitis bark (Vajradanti), Indian Almond, Bedda nut, Asian Holly Oak, Prickly Ash, Zanthoxylum alatum, Sappan wood, Catechu, Bengal Madder, Acacia arabica bark (Babul), Sarsaparilla, Cinnamon, Medlar bark, Mayweed, Bishop’s weed (flower extract)], Silica, Sodium Coco Sulfate (from Indian coconut oil), Chondrus crispus (seaweed extract), Cellulose (plant) gum, Clove oil, Peppermint oil, Spearmint oil, Eucalyptus oil, Menthol, Thymol, Anethol, Geranium extract, Potassium Sorbate (Potassium salt), p Thymol (from Thyme oil).

I found that Toms foamed up quite well. It seemed to clean well too but I brush my teeth at least 2-3 minutes. I'm impressed with it but I haven't any other ones.

I'm loving the banter guys! When we use up our leftovers we had for our Airbnb, we'll be in the market for a new natural, cruelty free toothpaste. I thought I was the only one to get excited about stuff like this!

Abundantly Minimal I'm probably a simpleton, but I too get super excited about natural toothpaste and all natural products. I'm obsessed with desert essence cinnamint. I just really despise mainstream fluoride toothpastes soooo much. Great review guys!

Nature's Gate creme de anise is my fave natural toothpaste, but it's hella expensive and to be honest I don't know if Nature's Gate is even making toothpaste anymore. I called them to ask because I wanted to order it. That's why I'm here trying to think of what else to order. I'm an anise/fennel/licorice only kinda person.

I make my own toothpaste from baking soda and coconut oil as an attempt to get a bit closer to zero-waste and I've gotten so used to it I couldn't go back to "normal" toothpaste anymore.

I feel really confused by conflicting information regarding toothpaste... my dentist told me that we need flouride for healthy teeth... what do you think? However, I have recently bought my first batch of Lush toothy tabs and am really enjoying them!

  • @AbundantlyMinimal

Thank you for your comment, and the Lush tooth tabs sound interesting! Regarding the fluoride, it's definitely a contested issue that I wouldn't claim I know tons about. Honestly, I didn't pick out these toothpastes because they were fluoride free per se, but I did realize they all were after reading more about them. A lot of the data that I have found is not conclusive either way, but it has not been clear that the use of fluoride (in toothpaste, tap water, etc) has actually prevented tooth decay, but there are some health concerns with the toxicity of fluoride. I hope this helps!

Hmmm, yes very interesting about flouride. I guess it works on the same basis as chlorine in swimming pools? Maybe it's a misconception that I hold that it also does something or other for the calcium... sounds like vegans need more protein all over again, haha
