Natural Talent - Between The Hedges | S2 E7

Спорт

“Gone are the days when you could do nothing and turn up.”
In the penultimate episode of Season 2, our riders and experts debate the masters of the sport and decide on the most naturally talented riders ever to grace the TT Mountain Course. We consider what it takes to compete at the top in the modern era and the preparations that the riders must undertake if they want to beat the best and run at the front.

TT riders are just the nicest people around. No massive egos and they really respect each other. That’s why I love the TT.

Every single competitor at the TT in every single class gets my respect, its a magical place an awesome ride and anyone who can go around at over 100 mph average speed is fast, over 130 mph is on another level.....IOM TT the gladiators of the road, the best on the planet, if you haven't been you must go there is nothing comparable.

How much do guys like Hicky, McGuinness, Brookes, Harrison, Dunlop, Hillier make a year from road racing? Even ballpark? Is there any cash in it for them if they win an Isle of Man TT race, maybe a NW 200 and an Ulster? It just strikes me that these guys should be earning big cash, but a lot of them are privateers and amateurs, racing national championships, far below the MotoGP and WSB grade. They do a lot as well to promote the TT so hopefully they’re getting paid for their input!

one of the drivers in Australia's, Super cars" championship series once said, "as i drive past a grand stand i think how lucky i am. there are probably a dozen or more people in the stand that have more natural driving ability than i do." not to belittle these guys in any way but i do think there are some people who can do it better than others. for no other reason other than they just can.

The "talent" they ALL share is FEARLESSNESS! I don't care how much someone enjoys speed, you get to the point where you are just plain scared to go faster. These guys have figured out how to shut that switch off. Most mortals will never know how that feels.

  • @alexandracapitani2860

Joey and soon enough Michael are and forever will be known as the GOAT. However, for me, McGuinness will always be King of the Mountain Course. To put down those times at his age is an unsurmountable feat in its own right. It’s hard to fathom anyone else having that staying power.

At the risk of sounding arrogant, I know that I have talent, I know how to wring the best out of the bike & where to put it, but, in the interest of self preservation.....I simply lack the balls to do it. I take my hat off to these guys that do.

At least I get to pretend!!!! that I'm fast and clean and good!! My 31 mile loop, that I ride 2 to 8 laps every few days (poor poor neighbors on my FM455 N. TX) (my fastest laps have been in the 17min range with medium fast in the 21min KEEPING IN MY LANE ONLY!! on Q3+tires not slicks, minus going around car traffic AND at 60mph takes 30+minutes) on 2008 CBR1000rr and 2020 ZX10r!!!!!!!!!! bla bla Cheers to ALL GOOD PEOPLE P.S. if I was real fast/good, I'd get paid and laid!!! Instead I pay for both!!!!!!

How I hope this is never ever lost I am old and knackered but I just hope this one sport stays as it is with natural talent being the key to its survival and not money and so called fame .. I also hope that not too many riders lose their lives I also hope that folk just leave this sport alone mamby pambies can just fuck off.Its our sport to do as we wish with !!!!!!!!!!!!! Its probably the last true sport on the planet where respect is the first word not fame or fortune and the hardest sport to boot God how I love the T.T. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
