I didn't know goats would eat pine needles. Thanks for all the information, greatly appreciated.
Excellent video, thank you!!
DE is awesome!!! thanks for sharing :)
we have had chickens for years...... and when hubby cleans out the hen house mainly in the summer months. No he cleans out the hen house every day (cleans the poop up) my hubby always sprinkles in some D.E. in with the straw. and it gets on them and everywhere... which is a good thing. D. E. is great.
Never mind my comment on the "checking goats for worms" video! Hahahahaha Great info! Thanks!! I'm researching diatomaceous earth now!!
How much and how often do you give this to your goats? We have nubians. Great video! I enjoy watching your channel. Thankyou

hello can you tell me the ratio of applying DE to goats and chickens thank you great video.
but Christmas trees are usually fur or Spruce NOT pine. also I wonder if pine can induce labor for people could it also effect pregnant goats?
Thank you!!!!!! I knew there had to be a better, cheaper, healthier way.
I am looking to start up a permaculture collective on a 40 acre farm in the Pocono mountains. So though I have experience with plants in wanting to get more experience with animals. Goats seem like a goid choice. In hoping that various skilled persons will mark it a perfect place to be sustainable and supportive.
Thanks for the info. Very helpful for me as a newbie. One question: You talk about pune needles but the trees you show your goats eating are balsam fir. Are both effective against worms?

It would be good to see how you sneak the DE into their diet. I saw on AnAmericanHomestead KZread show a mention of soaking the grain pellets in apple cider vinegar and then covering them with DE - as a way to sneak the DE into the animal's diet. How would you recommend doing it for sheep, goats and chickens?
Is there a a dosage chart? I cant seem to find one. Thank you!
We use DE here, too, for all the animals. I also brush it into my goat's hair to help keep ticks and mites off. It does seem to help a lot! Great video!

We buy 50 lb bags of diatanatious Earth for about $12 from the Amish garden supply. And it's marked food grade.
How do you give the DE to your goats? In their feed? Dry?
If you use pine needles for deworming does it have to be fresh green pine needles?

Diatomaceous earth, pine needles are a wonderful nutrition for goats only. But check your veterinarian if pine needles can also be fed to them and most probably in pulverized-blended form.
How often do you feed it to them
I have a baby goat that always itches and scratches its body. I don't see any lice or ticks on her body. I don't know what to do. I love my cute goat.
I hope my goat makes it 🥺 I love her so much.
i notice you are feeding your goats FIR not PINE. does fir work as well as pine?
I know this is an old video, but have you used de on bred goats?
You are the goat!
My poor rescue goat has worms. She’s been on 3 different wormers but I don’t think they worked 😰 so I’m hoping DE helps her.
Hi everyone! I thank all of them for sharing ur informations but as iam new Iwanted to knew from where i get this diatomaceous earth?can anybody send link to buy it and what will be the price of it?
What do I give pregnant goats with barber worms?
I just had an idea.. since it helps cut down on flies I was thinking that I could rub some on to my cows body and then the fly would naturally touch it and die..

Daniel McQueen I would try grinding egg shells into a fine powder and feeding it to them... They might be needing more calcium.
Hey Brad, love the video! I'm a new goat owner and I've had my two goats for 2 weeks and have been racking my brain on what to do about deworming. They are healthy and fine for now, but I KNOW I need to do something for them soon. After asking around, I heard that DE was great to use but no one knew the dosage. Once I looked to the web, I was distraught that I couldn't find the answer I needed. Plus all the common sites I found stated that DE didn't work and even not recommended for internal use!! I'm sure you understand my frustration from when I had already bought a 10 lb bag! Your video is reassuring to me that I'm on the right track and to keep trucking. My question to you..... what does 2% in grain mean? We give our milking goat 2 cups (2 red solo cups) of grain in the morning and the evening. Would I give 2% of DE to each feeding? My husband and I are still very confused what the ratio would be of "2%." A tablespoon? :( Thanks!

Amy Robbins Hey Amy, Christa here. Brad thought that I should respond to this question as I am the one who takes care of the goats. Congrats by the way on being a new goat owner! You will love it! I give our goats 1-2 TBSP of DE in the morning and then Probios in the evening. (It helps with a healthy gut). I also have been giving them one capful of Basic H soap from Shaklee in their 5 gallon bucket of water. These are the things that Joel Salatin from Polyface does to deworm his animals. I found the recommended dosage of DE on www.wolfcreekranch.net/diatomaceous_earth. They have a lot of great info on DE for all animals. I hope this helps. Blessings!

Break Away here, let's say you need a quick fix on a parasite issue. Not only for your animals, but you yourself notice parasites. You want them gone, and you want them gone now... Simply eat ONE CIGARETTE or feed your animal a cigarette. It doesn't have to be a name brand or have chemicals in it, just simply tobacco will work. The nicotine in the tobacco will kill off any parasites you have and you'll be rid of them with 24 hours. In Extreme cases, you may have to repeat this one more time to do the trick.

has anyone ever had their animals checked for worms before and after feeding the diatomaceous earth? I just wonder if these people know for sure the worms are gone. And just because an animal does not appear 'wormy' does not mean that it does not have worms. By the time an animal looks wormy, there is quite an infestation going on. I am just a little skeptical, I guess.

You took a specimen of a particular goat to the vet to get tested for worms? Before and after treatment of that goat? I have two horses that live together. And just because one has worms, does not mean the other one does. Or if one does not have worms, does not mean the other one does not. I have to experiment with it.
