Ocheretyne, Umanske, and Krasnahorivka lie respectively from north to south near roads T511, E50, and N15 that lead from or around Donetsk City to Pokrovsk. Russia has advanced about 20 miles westward recently and it is about 20 more miles to Pokrovsk.

Oh, and since the distance between Ocheretyne and Krasnohorivka is @ 20 miles, it appears Russia is advancing westward toward Pokrovsk on a front 20 miles wide. That has not been seen in a while.

I don't get the feeling that NATO could beat Russia in Ukraine even if all available NATO troops join. Russia is on home turf, is far more experienced, would be fully motivated and has unlimited escalatory capability whereas NATO would have a hotchpotch of armies and weapons (and would run out of things very quickly) and no clear leadership. Obviously, we may never find out if that's true as we all may have to wave goodbye to the world, but I can't see any NATO army or collection of armies beating Russia in a land war on Russia's border. Let's hope nobody puts it to the test

The opposition parties would smell blood if the LDP sent troops to fight in Ukraine. With that said, I saw an article a year or so back that mentioned 70 Japanese volunteers went to fight for Ukraine. NATO’s charter should make it impossible for any member of the alliance to deploy its troops in another country without permission of all member states. In other words if you want to benefit from shared security please be so kind and don’t act in a way that would drag us into a conflict. Simple.
