Can't name them white, black or yellow these are races and you don't wanna be seen as race warrior. Can't name them green army, brown army or pink army come out condescending to opponent or taking enemy lightly. Purple, violet, doesn't roll down your tongue easily. Claiming that Chieftain is impressive and a powerful tank in 1987 is quite a stretch and was already a dubious claim in 1972. Vickers MK.7/2 was already dead at this point, 1 vehicle prototype build, no further developement and project canned in 1986. Challenger 1 was basicly just an uparmored Chieftain with slightly improved FCS, still lagging behind M1 and Leo2 in capability, primarily hold back by its inadequate FCS and main armament. Even though the 120mm L11 L/55 rifled gun was at this point issued with L23A1 APFSDS, it still lagged behind the RH120 L/44 / M256 of Leo2 and M1 in firepower and penetration. And both the 120mm L/44 smoothbore firing the 15-25% more powerful DM33 or M829A1 APFSDS was still struggling with T-72B´s and T-80U´s on ranges above 1000m

wow dude its literally like the good guys in marvel beating thanos! go ukraine!!!!!!!!!!!!
Served with 7 armd used both chieftain and challenger recovery loved both but I stilled love the love the chieftain more it’s what I trained on before doing the challenger conversion course
Dang, I served from 1987-1991 as an M1 tank crewman. 1987 seems like a lifetime ago.
Weird how they just showed the leclerc prototype, you'd say they'd keep it secret since it wouldn't be done for quite a while after this aired
Man that Chrysler stingray gets the juices flowing
Nice!
Seriously don't know where you come out with this stuff 😂 But it is ironic you know... the idea of western nations fighting Soviets in Europe with MBTs involved has resurrected to become more prominent than ever although after being deemed as just another theoretical silly outcome used for the media for the last three decades Very eerie
Nice video
Respect to ALL the Tankers and AFV crews.

I served in the 11th ACR just before this film, 82-84 crewing an M1. Not an M1A1 or an IP or any other excess letter... an 'Em-Wun-Aye-Nuthin' So if M60 crewmen are 'DinoTankers', I suppose that makes me a 'NeandroTanker' 😅

The Centurion was the best tank at the end of WW2
Well this suddenly feels relevant again. Fix your timestamps btw, it's Challenger & Chieftain.

That is the oldest first lieutenant that I've ever seen. Only the Canada Army has older ones.
1987... good times.
Funnily the Vickers Mk7/2 was, despite what the commentary said, the most advanced tank around. More advanced than Challenger, Leopard 2 or Abrams....
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
uuuu they even got the vickers MBT

Correct. In the documentary, it even says the Leclerc will be fielded in the early 1990s.

an 80's Chieftain or Abrams would still easily defeat 95% of the Russian tanks in Ukraine!

I wouldn't go so far to 1980s But judging by how well Leopaard 2A4 and M1A1 is holding, i would say maybe the 1990s were way better
Love the Challenger and Abrams. Not so taken by the French "choccy" Leclerc. It only works for 25 hours a week and not at all over the summer.
American dad tank would own this except germanys you know why
@7:30 That is an old assed LT... lol.
Once you named yourself Blue army there are only very few limited colors left to be assigned to your opponent. If you name them Red i.e Communist that's what the real enemy is but doesn't wanna Increase anxiety or come out as belligerent. Can't name them white, black or yellow these are races and you don't wanna be seen as race warrior. Can't name them green army, brown army or pink army come out condescending to opponent or taking enemy lightly. Purple, violet, doesn't roll down your tongue easily. Golden, silver, steel assigns the other side a higher pedestal.

Have you ever read an article from bvtv or do you say this for upvotes on forums? The Abams (M1A1) gets one shotted by a shot to the turret shotted in Iraq by a 100mm APCR from a AT gun.
Brits love to invent something and then insist it is key thing worth mentioning as its used by far more impressive projects in other nations.

Ah yes, still full of bot commenters
