i expect that too, since hoyoverse will definitely have us prepare for the upcoming extra areas in natlan after this one. probably a volcanic area with the blazing heat bar mechanic like in dragonspine, but we shouldnt set our expectations too high or else we’ll be disappointed in the future

Every region has had a sort of expansion to it that give the regions a whole different vibe, dragonspine for monstadt, the chasm for liyue, the desert for sumeru, etc so I'm hoping natlans expansion is indeed a volcano, lava, ash for fog type area.

Two things: 1. Non of the three characters look like Genshin characters to me (not a bad thing, just making a notice) 2. The blue girl riding on the shark is literally the Subway Surfers animation when you summon the surf boards😂

I am mad bcz it's based on Latin America and some other places, I think, yet all of these people are light skinned. Are there light skinned ppl in those countries? Yes. They don't need to all be dark but only having slightly dark characters and one barely tan one that's as light as most white Americans I see in insane. On top of that it's hot in those areas, lots of uv. I doubt they're applying sunscreen every time they go out. Why does mihoyo use all of the culture but leave out the skin tones of the people in representing? Imagine they made all of Fontaine black? It wouldn't be accurate, and people would be upset. Call me a woke liberal snowflake, but I am Mexican, and I am frustrated. Even the jp and cn servers are confused.

@@abysomething2012 I agree, we do have Kaeya. However, compared to the sheer amount of pale skinned characters, Kaeya and Xinyan are the only darker ones. Natlan is based on countries that have a LOT of darker skinned people. Yes, you could possibly make an excuse for Sumeru, but Natlan? No way. Furthermore, we know Mihoyo can make darker skinned characters. Look at the enemies. So there is little to no excuse. We need good representation of darker skinned individuals.

I guess we can safely say that Natlan is not purely Latin American inspired. Seems to have African and a lot of Australian elements. Music sounds Australian (like Crash Bandicoot) blended with Spanish guitars and African percussions.

@@noe4354 Before people had details, we just knew it was a former penal colony (hence Penacony) turned major tourist destination, which sounded a lot like Australia

This is disappointing when a nation that is supposed to be representing Africa doesn't have any black characters. I am excited about the area, but considering that we are in endgame territory with barely any diversity.

People don't undestand that WAR IS CULTURE in Natlan. Not literally war, chaos everywhere. Problably, pyro archon leads the nation using "war" like: important decisions, fight each other. Problably this is the "eternal war", everything is decided in eternal battles between tribes

I found the vision for the dentro guy: it’s on his left leg (front view), you can see it in the last shot when they turn the camera around so you see their backs Geo child is obviously on her arm Hydro girl’s vision is on her back, exactly in the same spot where Hu Tao’s vision is. You can see it when she turns around in her 2nd shot and in the last shot when they all turn around Edit: it’s also in the same place as keqing’s, Mona’s, and arrlechino’s visions are

why is hoyoverse so scared of making playable black ppl

Do most of the ppl not read the NPC dialogue? They say Natlan is a place to go for relaxing and having fun, also their biome is very colorful full of graffiti. But on the other hand, the game has said that there are a zone that currently has war which I think it will comes out later, like Sumeru desert.

Ooh unfortunately, I believe that majority of the players don't care about the LORE, much less reading dialogues from NPCs 😅 Sure, some players perhaps will only care about the MAIN STORY LORE but definitely they will NOT be reading the NPCs dialogues thats for sure.

Why read the lore when you have multiple main characters outright contradict those statements? It would be interesting as the world building is great...if you didnt need to sit thru Paimon reiterating the situation 5 times for a simple task, let alone for complex narratives.

I love how everyone expected Dragons and forgot the fact that we've known from the start that most dragons were extinct and the creatures in Natlan are probably descendants of them, like, 1% dragon blood at most

the previous boss fight events, literaly confirmed the identity of those dragons. saurines: which translated to DINOSAURES :D nueivillete even confirmed it by saying that the dragons in natlan are not of a vishap descend

The marimba was not even one from either africa or centroamerica/chiapas, it sounded more like a grand marimba. Both the former marimbas usually have resonators that make them real real obvious theyre not your average run of the mill marimba

I'd been told that the primary inspirations were closer to Africa as a general continent though, so this is definitely an interesting twist. Honestly, I can't quite see much of the cultural inspirations unless they're specifically going for modernised variations of the culture. Aside from the terrain and the very start of the background music using instruments from indigenous Australians, there really isn't much that anyone familiar with the culture or area would typically flag as connected. However, these are still only previews, there may still be more we haven't seen yet.
