Serious question to everyone. Komplete 14 seems really awesome and I am not hating on it in anyway. I am just wondering how a music producer/composer is able to deal with sound choice when having up to 140000 sounds to explore and understand. Like when starting a song from scratch and coming up with the best sounds that fit that song, it would perhaps seem overwhelming to browse through that many sounds.

First you need to choose the style, then,browse from sounds ins that style (it's already a huge library also), but Komplete product it's more for producers that make musics in various genres.

Kontakt 7 lets you browse most of the options by filtering for instrument type, character, etc. Narrowing down the categories usually brings it down to a few dozen to pick from, and all you have to do is keep arrowing down until it plays a sound you think you like; you don’t have to load the instrument to hear a sample of it.

All the answers are right, you can filter by genre, character etc ... but there is one more thing that really helps it is Komplete Kontrol, an app that regroups every sound in one place, whether they come from a Kontakt library or a standalone software synth or an extension, they are all in the Komplete Kontrol interface which you can filter in the same manner as Kontakt and audition them. Moreover, if you possess other synths or sounds from an other manufacturer which adheres to the NKS protocol, you will also be able to browse them from Komplete Kontrol.

How do you write/speak when there are so many words to choose from?

This guy is an incredible musician

My default Ableton Template includes Omnisphere, Analog Lab, and Komplete 14. Can't think of better starting point for anything. Beware Komplete though... you will lose many hours just browsing the presets. Also - Komplete Kontrol that's included with 14 supports Omni and Analog presets. All in one solution using a NI controller.

Great question! Yes, Maschine MK3 work wonderfully with the Komplete library. Being a Native Instruments controller, it is obviously NKS compatible and gives you incredibly quick and well organized patch searching for the entire Komplete library. The Maschine software can host VST or AU plugin formats, so you can even use other 3rd party sounds as well! Note that Maschine MK3 does require a computer, if you are looking for a stand-alone Maschine, the Maschine Plus is the ticket! If you have any more questions, give me a ring.
