Native American Dancing Demonstration

Cherokee member Kenny Wilburn and Muscogee Creek member Butch McIntosh demonstrated the art of Native American dancing to third graders at Moore Elementary School in Broken Arrow on Tuesday, September 24. McIntosh was dressed in the fancy dance regalia and Wilburn was in the straight dance regalia. They are members of the Oklahoma Masonic Indian degree team. The video shows selected scenes of dancing.
"The activity is part of the students' study on Oklahoma history, which includes learning about past Native American cultures that have lived in Oklahoma and how those tribes keep their tradition and culture alive today," said Jane Elkins, coordinator of Native American programs for Union Public Schools.
