I have 2 blankets not rugs, I believe, that are wool, very large and heavy. Looks as if the yarn is hand spun and made with natural dies. You can see the lines where it might have been taken off the loom. My great grandfather traveled from MA to the southwest? 1800's as written in his genealogy. I have photos. Can you help with identifying the work?

this may sound weird but i picked up a rug somewhere i hung it out to air out i was beating the dust and must out of it then ran my hand along it and it seems to have burs in the weave not so much a bur but a pointy dry seed they were really deep in the wool fibers could they have been in there from spinning the yarn could they have been put in there to annoy the white man? i must have plucked out 30 or so

No, they frequently weave them outside.Tthe seeds probably blew in, either landing in the loose yarn or the vertical loom. I'm sure it is not on purpose. I have a peruvian blanket and I found guinea pig droppings when I washed it. They have loose guinea pigs in the Inca-people's homes in Peru.
