Ottoman empire colonized the Balkans the same way the English colonized India,no better. Once the people in the Balkans were strong enough to gain independence, the Ottoman empire disintegrated.

Remember. The Greek war of independence. When the people of Greece got independence in 1832, since that time a feeling of being free had arisen and when thwe countries like Germany and Italy became unified ,they also started protesting against the Ottoman Empire which led to its disintegration.
