I was an EMT for the Hoopa Indian Reservation in N.CA from 2000-2010. This very close to Bluff Creek where the famous Patterson/Gimlen film of "Patty" was taken in the late 50's. I've heard the Sasquatch Howell and can testify that your recordings presented here are exactly what I heard. Your statement that whatever tis animal was it had a huge lung capacity is dead on. Thanks for the confirmation.

I have heard that sound in Indiana in the mid 80's. It came out of my woods. I was waiting on the bus in the early morning. I was not the only one. Several of us kids heard it. the kids lived to the left of my house, and some of them were about 1/4 mile away. It scared all of us. We all had a rule in my area, never go into the woods alone!

When you played the Ohio Howl, it sounded very familiar to me and brought back a memory when we lived on a farm in South Central Minnesota. Thirty years ago, I thought it was a tornado siren on the wind of one of two small towns, each about five miles away. A siren was the only thing that made sense to me because the pitch went up and down again. 05:40 I didn't even consider an animal sound because in rural Southern Minnesota, cows, dogs, and birds are the only animal sounds to be heard. Bigfoot wasn't even on my radar 30 years ago. This just blows me away!

Great hike footage - felt like I was there but without the sore legs afterwards! Good music too. Re the story, technically it was the supervisor that simply shut it down, not the Park Service. Although knowing how the Air Force has responded to UFO sightings until this year, I suppose it's probably a fair assumption that the Park Service wouldn't want visitors being scared off. On the other hand, while Bigfoot is big and likes his privacy, they don't seem to be violent, just pointed in their desire to move you along from their territory. I would bet that if the Park Service put out warnings about Bigfoot it would actually attract more visitors, not fewer. Much like a town advertising a haunted forest.

Last week I was driving through the exact part of Ohio where those sound recordings came from, when I got a flat tire. It was very late at night, around 1 a.m., and I was sitting in the breakdown lane waiting for AAA to come. I was alone, and the area was desolate, with few other cars on the road at that time of night. It was kind of eerie, to say the least.

My wife and I heard something VERY similar around the year 2004 in the Northeast Alabama woods near Mentone. We were really out on a road that was only accessible via a 4 wheeler or an oversized truck. Because of this, there was no one around us, and we were completely alone. When we heard this sound, it sounded like an alarm, but we've never figured out what it is... that is until I heard the sound of what is supposedly bigfoot in this video. It all makes sense now, because we were very FAR off the beaten path, and an alarm would have to be incredibly loud near residences for us to have heard it so clearly where we camped. We asked several individuals living around there if they heard any kind of alarm, etc. and there answer was a puzzled no. Therefore, one of our great mysteries may have been solved with this video. It never made sense that we'd hear an alarm so close, with probably the nearest person living a few miles away, and the nearest town 20 or more miles away that could have given that type of warning.

How utterly frustrating for Paul to have to loose control of his recordings in order to keep his job! Where are they now? Were they destroyed? 😢 Paul, you are believed. This was an excellent video/story, perfectly told. Thank you, Chris. 🥰 Just an aside for you: I noticed the Indian motorcycle plaque on your wall. I live in the town in New Zealand, Wyndham, where Burt Munro, of The World’s Fastest Indian fame, was born and attended school. I was born and brought up in nearby Invercargill, where he build his bike and tested it for years on the local beach. Many people come to Invercargill every year, even from overseas, to celebrate the Burt Munro Rally, and to ride their motorbikes and compete on the beach and surrounding streets. A typical “never give up” kiwi guy. 😀👏🏼👏🏼

Lindamckenzie: Wow! You’re from Invercargill, New Zealand? I became aware of your town when I was very young, about 65 years ago. My father was a school teacher. He was attending an international teacher’s conference and met a fellow teacher, Colin Dimmock, from your town. They became pen pals and exchanged gifts from their respective countries. Colin sent us wooden rulers inlaid with many samples of the different woods found in New Zealand and Australia. I used that ruler throughout my childhood. He also sent us pictures of indigenous animals and birds such as the Kiwi and film of the beautiful Lorikeets that frequented his porch. He made such an impression on me and I never forgot him. The recorded sound was interesting. As you said, this park ranger knew the different animal sounds in the park. The supervisor's reaction was rather strange, taking the recording and threatening the ranger with job loss if he spoke of this to anyone. Assuming it was because the supervisor thought people wouldn't want to come to the park, but even so, not the reaction a supervisor should have. Fact is truly stranger than fiction. Merry Christmas to you and Jeanette!

Another amazing post! Sure hope your new drone is water proof! Really nice to see the beautiful waterfall and the water -- it looks pretty dry there but there must be some water coming off the hillside nearby. Really nice footage and love the water and long distance scenic shots! Merry Christmas from snowy Colorado!

Crater Lake NP also has stories of rangers and the park naturalist having sasquatch encounters. They are in the Smith brother’s logs. Search Crater Lake history Smith Brothers. I can’t remember all the names or years but I know one sighting was in 1976.

Hello Chris, Your stories reminds me of when I was young and my grandfather and uncle would tell me scary hunting stories. When it was bath time I would run full speed and dive in one end of the tub and out the other. Running back to the porch still wet with my pj's still on my head. I would ask did I miss anything? I didn't want to miss a word. I thank you for bring back that feeling.Your a good story teller .Be safe out there.

Thank you for playing all of those recordings of different creatures of the wild lands. I love the sounds that a Loon makes out over a lake on a fall or winter's day. Its something that the two recordings you played of probable Bigfoot howls both came from my home state of Ohio. I didn't ever know exactly where the "Ohio Howl' was recorderd so close to the Ohio River. I've boated a lot of the Ohio over the span of many decades. I've never heard such sounds while on the river. I think that hearing such a cry, is as close to a Bigfoot I want to be. I just started listening to your stories in the past few months. I have really enjoyed doing so. I love your way of doing this. The beers you drink, all seem to be great brews. The hiking video was wonderful. What a spectacular part of the country you live in and obviously enjoy. A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, your family and all those who follow you here on KZread.
