Kit cars and their builders have come a long way since I had my Nova in 1980!

People that laugh at Replica Kit Cars, don’t understand the time and hard work that went into these cars. It’s not about being to cheap to buy one, it’s about the knowledge and understanding of how to build a car urself. The ones laughing should try and build one one themselves.

Man you said it. These guys put their heart and souls into these rides and as you can see it pays off. I’m telling you the guys making those comments wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. The thing is some of these cars are fantastic and should be praised for their craftsmanship a the engineering that goes into tuning a regular chassis into a super car. I think that is these guys building these cars would just build there cars and not call them a replica then people would see it as a new super car build and respect the build so these guys take a huge chance when they try to make them look like a branded super car but that’s the fun and if they put in the work they deserve credit when credit is due.

Is it just me? I respect the builders and their owners WAY more than some snotbag snoot that inherited a ton of money just to BUY an original. The hard work and time that goes into these is usually not noticed. These were great.

even if the cars were original people will still hate, i will never understand why people hate so much other people having nice cars.....

then why PRETEND to be something its not, with all the ferrari badges etc. just put the MR2 logo back and maybe add one bit of lettering KIT CAR...then people would respect it for what it is not what its sadly trying and failing to be...

Landed me a countach IFG Body and sourced a 95% Complete GTM chassis with the z06 LS6 corvette engine and suspension with the Porsche transaxle obviously Ill have to modify to fit the lambo body. Great video!!

Saw that Orange Ultima at the show - looks superb. The V-shaped bubble at the rear looks non-standard. Any body know anything about this car?

This just goes to show that perception is everything. Buy what you can afford and build up, then surround yourself with likeminded people. Most if not all of these cars are replicas yet no one cares and simply shows respect because they all are together and mirror the real deal.

Now that’s a replica kit car, not those badly dressed up MR2s

- Blue California - Yellow Daytona - Caterham kits done well will always look good - Green Stratos - that first RS200 - 15:00 those are kits? - Sad to see just 4 Covins when old 911s on Beetle frames are the easiest kits to faithfully emulate - For consolation those 356s are tasteful

Wish you could put kit makers websites up.

On the 250 GTO’s and Daytona 365 GTB’s are they V12 equipped?

Purvis licence produced the kit in Dandenong Victoria, based on the Nova design from 1974 to 1991. Volkswagen beetle chassis and engine. Best friend owned one before getting married. Great fun! :-D

Those are proprietary chassis, performance wise they will walk 99% of super cars, they are street legal race cars that come partially assembled. They called ultimas.

I built a Nova back in the day, so much fun,.

Replicas have certainly come a long way! Some of them are almost indistinguishable from the real deal, it's just a shame that these days the first thing people do when they see a cool looking car is reg check it on the Internet and immediately see what the vehicle is registered as. Sort of takes away from all the effort spent making these things look so legit.

You can have any color you want....as long as it’s red.

Most people who build kit cars aren't doing it because they can't afford the real thing. Many do it for the build experience. I've seen kit cars that easily cost more than what they are meant to look like, but building them is very fun.

Pretty simple answer dude $50k comes as a kit,and you build it yourself, $100k would be custom-built by the manufacturer.

Stratos are the only cars which don't look wonky. I like the old vw based Nova cars. True kit cars are really cool but replicas are very dodgy ground.

Because you can do absolutely whatever you want to these which you can't always do to the originals.

I can’t explain why cobra and GT40 replicas are Fantastic and the Rebodied MR2s dressed up as Ferrari’s are epically tragic, but they are. Just spend your money on a decent car, like the MR2 you are ruining. Oh yes now I remember the cobras and gt40s are actually built kitcars rather than nasty plastic panels stuck to an existing car. Kit car built using a donor car and a manufactured kit is good, sticking plastic panels to an existing car is deeply tragic and shouldn’t be anywhere near a kit car show.

It's because the gt40s and cobras are reproductions with tube frame chassis (often better than a original car) where as the Ferrari kits are just re-body posers.

i LOVE kit cars, BUT doing ferrari replicas about new cars is really lika a Ricer thing, and i do not stand it. There are a lot of kit cars that are even better looking, so why do such things??and even taking the risk of being denounced from ferrari. to me, is just wrong, specially if you live in US were you can have incredible cars for a lot less money than here in italy and europe in general.

That repetitive noise was terrible.
