If you were a tree surgeon or had a garbage truck, the ability to run your vehicle on the byproduct of your industry would be perfect. Saves on landfill too.

Unfortunately they failed to mention that burning wood basically is carbon neutral. The emission test isn't a fair comparison by that standard.

lol at 45:40 "there is no smell of carbon monoxide" really? wouldn't expect that from an odorless gas?!

Great job, I'm going to build mine to power an electri generator to power my house through my homemade powerwall and charge up my electric car.

Awesome that you're putting these up on KZread. But I was wondering, are there more planet mechanics episodes that you haven't uploaded yet? If so it would be so so cool of you to upload them. Do NOT feel obligated to do it, it's just an idea! :)

Hello @1Rockbilly, I think is necesary so much energy to compress the syngas and the syngas heating value is more than 17 time less than propano, so the better way is use the syngas inmediately is produced.

this is totally carbon neutral, has lower carbon emissions that electric cars and conventional ones. as it is totally zero. Woodlands need to be managed, that is something many do not understand. trees need to be cut and replaced.

good job the only problem was the carburator, thats why it runs uneven. It would have been better to leave the old one on and just run the gas hose into the air cleaner.

I would like to see them attach a stirling engine to the radiator to harness all that extra heat energy that in their current system is just getting radiated unused to the outside air.

@EgoSumTempestas Perhaps that is part of it. Later on in this episode they do mention CO2 neutrality.

"clean and pure" there's still carbon monoxide. You're burning something, after all. I wouldn't go taking huge breaths of that exhaust in an enclosed space, if I were you.

Yeah that's right... Then are you ungreen if you use wood as construction, craftmaking or fire material? I'm not so sure that being green requires you never to hurt a tree, that'd make the whole thing a little complicated.

What happened to compressed natural gas tanks ? How about bringing into the 21st. Century The Stanley Steam, method of powering, autos, trucks, trains ? Pardon my ignorance, but is there anyone out there "qualified" enough to answer these questions ? I want to learn more. Thank You !

because natural gas although it is very clean it is still a fossil fuel, and in the UK's situation it is imported from russia - so having wood that is grown localy and would otherwise be thrown away or burned on a bon fire is now used as a transport fuel

i dont understand, why not use the basic method such as the paint can, but larger. it would produce only woodgas. whereas these methods have to burn the smoke as well in the engine making it less effective.thanks

Guys, they have to do it like that because heating gas like in the paint can will produce tar gases that burn but when they shut the engine down, a creosote like tar sticks to all the metal surfaces inside the engine! This ruins the engine oil and sticks the intake valves. The way they did it, these tar gases are reduced to methane, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen gases that do not stick to metal surfaces and don't ruin engine oil!

wOOD ITS AN SUSNTEABLE MATERIAL BECAUSE YOURE SUPOSED TO BE PLANTING MORE TREES. IF YOU USE THEM, YOU PLANT THEM, THING THAT DOESNT HAPPEND WITH PETROLEOUM OIL.. IT DOESNT "GROWS UP"

  • @Biologykid1000
    @Biologykid100011 жыл бұрын

This would still produce a significant amount of CO2. Instead of letting wood fall in a forest and sequester carbon away from the atmosphere, they want to take a bunch of logs and burn them? Not saying this isn't a solution to low cost fuel, but I doubt it is eco friendly in the slightest.

Why wouldn't you create the gas and then compress it into storage tanks like the propane rigs instead of building a system for every single vehicle? Love the technology but the "Laurel and Hardy" act is annoying. Thanks for uploading and sharing!

Gj. You just find out new way to ruin the WORLD. Seriously, why do you even think this is à green project . How many years needs to grow up à tree And How many years to be needed for all trees cut down And Use Them As a fuel. I hope this Project stays As it is.

I agree with about 85% of your statement. If half of everyone had a wood powered vehicle, we'd potentially live on a red planet. Extreme regulation is the answer. If allowed in very limited numbers, the technology could be used to get rid of scrap wood that's often the result of tree, and shrub trimming, and wood based garbage. Also, keep in mind that paper recycling, while it is prefered over burning it, isn't always an option in many areas, and as a result, the tech could help with that garbage as well. Think of it, a vehicle that can help clean as it runs on the very same waste that it's cleaning from the environment.

Most idiotic post ever on youtube. Its not even a question between going to war over oil, and burning oil which destroys our planet, and using wood which is a renewable resource and does no harm at all, in any way. You are a total moron. So is dr fruitcake.

  • @DrFruikenstein

I have nothing against burning wood if it's done responsibly, and I like syn gas. However, if everyone is doing it, we'll run out of wood, and would potentially have a smoky atmosphere. Reasons like that are why I think this old technology should be regulated. I think we can agree that incomplete burning of almost any fuel creates pollution. It doesn't matter if it's renewable, or not. When making syn gas, much of the smoke particles are captured, thus reducing pollution while still getting the energy from the wood. It's even possible to capture oil from burning wood, which can be refined to fuel oil of many types. Just remember, regardless of whether the fuel is renewable or not, if it pollutes, it's not green. As for calling names, while I consider it an honour to be grouped in with the many inventors whose tech we currently use every day, who were also shunned when they first invented that tech, I don't think it's right to call names. Besides, judging by your web handle "homebuiltindoorplane", which says to me that you build and fly RC planes indoors, I know from experience that there are many people that would call you a fruitcake (I'm not one of them). I doubt you'd enjoy being called names because of your hobby. I've heard the comments from people I know for years, like "If the prop breaks while flying it in the gym, it'll poke out someone's eye.", "Why are you wasting your time and money with something that serves no purpose?", and "What if you loose control, and it flys into the crowd?".

DrFruikenstein I think you need to give your mommy back her computer. You know nothing about wood gas thats apparent. You didnt even bother to watch this video, there is no reason to talk to you, you are a complete idiot. But you are right, if every single person in the world all of a sudden built a wood gasifier, and everyone on the planet turned theirs on at the same time, and maybe even some people built ones for their kids, like anyone above 3 years old gets a gasifier, some people might dare to build two at once. yep, einstein, yep, some places on earth might get a little cloudy or smoky. But not caves. You forgot caves. You are leap years (leapfrog) ahead of the rest of us. You sir, are a mental giant. You have a good day and tell your nurse your pain level is at a '7'.
