@@zvezda4701 While I agree with a secular one state solution "Fida'i" is not even close to the level to Hatikvah. Its a mediocre anthem, while Hatikvah is one of the greatest on Earth. The beauty of the South African anthem is that while it was a political move, both Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika are amazing anthems on their own and compliment each other well. The Palestinian anthem would have to be completely re-written or Hativak would just need more lyrics referring to the Muslim arab, christian and druze communities in Arab and one last stanza in English.

Combining both anthems for accommodating both the NP and ANC was not only a political move, but a stroke of compositional genius. This being sung by the choir performing this in the video sends chills down my spine because of it's beauty because of it's compositional and lyrical beauty

This anthem is also great...every south african language is mixed, creating uniqueness in an anthem...

I absolutely love this anthem, both parts sound incredible. Really sends a strong message about the unity of South Africa. The nation is not perfect; the legacy of apartheid has not faded and the new government has been often corrupt. But this anthem beautifully represents the equality and unity South Africa must strive for.

First part are Bantu languages. Then comes Afrikaans which is an African language with Dutch origin and then comes English. The oldest language of those 5 is unlike you'd expect Afrikaans. Afrikaans existed as a Dutch dialect tracing back to the 1600's and became a seperate recognized language alongside English during the 60's.

Random fact: Between 1994 and 1997, South africa's anthem had both the most amount of languages, and the longest national anthem. Their anthem was also Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika and die stem van suid-afrika, but a lot longer (the current one was actually a shortened version). However, the anthem was only in 4 languages instead of 5, as die stem van suid-afrika is either sung entirely in afrikaans or in english.

I'm not sure. As an Afrikaans speaker I don't hear the entire choir fluent Afrikaans. So I think some of them spoke Afrikaans and they are more in the lead.
