when the allies defeated the centeral powers they had no amazing reason to carve up hungary 70% of its territory, it wasnt them in austria-hungary that did much in the war, it was austria.

Hungary sealed its fate the second it was okay with the Ausgleich. At that point it became de-jure the equal partner of Austria. As Austria lost the war, so too did Hungary and suffered the consequences for it. But to be honest, even if the Ausgleich didn't happen, Hungary would get the same "fate". The Habsburg realms were divided up based on ethnicity, so even if Hungary weren't an equal partner, it would end up with the same borders it does today because fundamentally, the lands it lost at the end of WW1 were primarily not inhabited by Hungarians, but by other ethnicities which had been trapped in their predicement, some for 1000 years. Hungarians represented 48% of the population of Transleithania, a minority in their own country. The reason why Hungary didn't support the war is because it knew right afterwards, federalisation would occur and it would strip the disproportionate power that Hungarians had over the empire. Hungary didn't oppose the war because it loved peace and freedom, but because it wanted a free hand in oppressing the people that fell under its jurisdiction.

So I understand that for example Slovaks wanted to be independent, but then the majority Hungarian areas, cities should have been left to Hungary. Also as i see on your profile picture you want a united Carpathia too sooo... I think a lot of Hungarians would help making it.

Szerelem is not the correct word here. Hungarian makes a clear difference between szerelem and szeretet. The first means romantic love so the other one is to be used in this context. Except the case you wanted to wish us romantic love indeed 🙂

@@Jameslockheeart Wow. I love people learning Hungarian 🙂 Your 1st sentence is not comprehensible in Hungarian, sorry. The main message gets through but the real meaning does not. Some possible versions are these (always beginning with "Szerintem"): - jó ez a videó. - ez a videó jó. - ez a jó videó. Not only the accent is missing but the "l" is superficial. Jó is an adjective (good, correct, right etc.), jól is an adverb (well).

During the peace negotiations, the Hungarian ambassador asked for referendums to decide which parts would remain with Hungary and which would not. This proposal was rejected because the victorious powers knew that many areas with other ethnicities would have remained with Hungary. Why? Because all the successor states that were newly founded from the Kingdom of Hungary are also multi-ethnic states. Yugoslavia was a multi-ethnic state, as was Romania. And Czechoslovakia. In other words, one multi-ethnic state became three multi-ethnic states. Another thing: Hungary had the same rights as Austria, but it was not allowed to have a say in foreign policy, so it was dragged into the war. One more thing: in the 15th century, the Hungarians had a clear ethnic majority in Hungary. However, due to numerous revolutions, wars and occupations, the country was forced to accept settlers from neighbouring states. As a result, the Hungarians slowly became a minority. After the Compromise, attempts were made to reverse this imbalance, but by then it was too late. Hungary was carved up without legality and without a viable justification. You can put it as simply as that. If at least the borders had been drawn correctly (the border from the 1940s). Then there would be no problems today. Everyone would be happy. But the victorious powers preferred injustice to peace. Hungary was deprived of all important raw materials. Important railway stations and freight lines. No other country was treated so harshly and

I have to answer this comment. Please make a distintion beetween the GOVERMENT and the PEOPLE. while a goverment might do somthing even if the people hate it and don't support it. Same goes for Russins and Ukrains's alike, there is no reason for the two countiers PEOPLE to hate each other yet they do. the war is beetween goverments not the people. Also Hungery is not supporting Ukrain with millitary aid mostly becasue they don't feel that this war needs more weopons, plus Hungery is more interested in keeping their buget up wraps. it's easy for the USA to send 60+ BILLION dollars but Hungery is small and kind of needs all of the weopons and money they've got. If ukrain was part of NATO ok but right now theirs no reasons whatsoever to take from the Hungarian citys, parks, and schools and use that money for weopons.

I understand. But just as a last standing point, it's not that Hungery doesn't think that the war is a waste of money and time (some might) the majority simply think that more weopons will just cause more war which is true. This opinion might come from the wallet but it might also come from a nation attemping to stop a bigger war. Hungery has sent tons of aid in food and other supplies....just not weopons so they do care, they do help just not in the destructive way that the USA like and promotes. I understand your viewpoint thanks for sharing your opinion! Re read your commment, Hungarians don't send the weopons becase they hate Ukrain.The nation just doesn't want a bigger war- a fact that many nations seem to be um neglecting (AKA THE USA) anyways I'm certain that if Ukrain needs weopons so badly that Hungery would help them out. One last thing just so you know a small majority of about 150.000 Hungarians live in Ukrain, they have fought and died for Ukrain...rember this not many people do. @@przemysawkopec8531

I also understand your point of view. Hmm... I think you and I are simple people - we certainly don't want war and we don't have much influence on what our politicians do. The difference between us is the perception of this war: for Hungarians it is [probably] one of many wars, for me and most Poles it is OUR WAR [it is undoubtedly the result of our traumatic historical experiences with Russia] - we cannot be indifferent, we do not want only "the end of the war" - we want Russia's defeat

​​@@przemysawkopec8531 Hungary helped a lot Ukraine. We made the biggest humanitarian effort in our history to help them. And ukranians made a lot of bad things with Transcarpathian Hungarians. They didn't give their minority laws. And they forced them to fight in this war, which is bad, because they aren't ukranians, just citizens, but not fully ethnic Ukranians. Anyway I don't hate Ukraine and Ukranians, but they have to improve a lot in their ethnic politic. But I feel sorry for Russians also, because I think they look down on them, because of this war, but an avarage Russian person can't do about the war. A lot of Russian people dies in this war too, but the USA and the West don't care about it, just the Ukranians.
