Kong Christian stod ved højen mast ("King Christian stood by the lofty mast"), commonly shortened to Kong Christian, is the royal anthem of the Kingdom of Denmark. It also has equal status of national anthem together with Der er et yndigt land, though it is almost exclusively used in relation to the Danish royal house and the military. The theme of the song is about the heroics of Danish sailors during the wars against Sweden in the 17th and 18th centuries.
Usually only the first verse is sung on official occasions. Adopted in 1780, it is one of the oldest national anthems in the world.
FRANÇAIS: Kong Christian stod ved højen mast (« Le roi Christian se tenait au pied du haut mât ») est l'hymne royal du Danemark. Il a le même statut que l'hymne national Der er et yndigt land mais il est exclusivement utilisé en relation avec la famille royale danoise ou les forces armées danoises. La musique a été composée par Ditlev Ludvig Rogert et les paroles par Johannes Ewald, en 1779. Adopté en 1780, c'est un des plus anciens hymnes toujours utilisés.

Is it just me or does this have similar rhythms to Australia’s anthem every now and then? 0:17 This sounds like the Start of Australia’s Anthem 0:33 Listen to the part of the Australian anthem that says “We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil” and you’ll see a shocking similarity. I respect Danish royal family, While some members of the Danish royal family hold the title of Prince(ss) of Denmark, descendants of Margrethe II additionally bear the title Count(ess) of Monpezat. Children of the monarch are accorded the style of His/Her Royal Highness. The King and Queen are styled Majesty.

Hey, I really like your channel where you put a lot of historical songs but I have one big issue : Your intro song. It's a great idea to put your Duke of Canada coat of arms but the music is really annoying. I sometimes want to download some of your musics but they always have this intro that ruins everything and it's always very different from the rest of the music. So please, could you remove your intro song at the beginning?

Why? It's literally perfect as it relates to his name. It's a Canadian patriotic song. If you don't like it, simply cut it out, or go download the song elsewhere. It doesn't "ruin everything" at all.

The arms of Canada are correct, thought available to even the most loyal subject. The intro only takes seconds so no reason to complain about that. Personally, grateful for the effort involved🙋

Denmark offiically has two national anthems. This one is more associated with the royal family and the military, while the other one is more like the "civil" / sports anthem.

This is a common misconception, even among Danes. But 'Kong Christian' is absolutely the national anthem. 'Der er et yndigt land' is also the national anthem. Denmark simply has two. 'Kong Christian' is also the royal anthem but that doesn't change the fact that it is absolutely the national anthem.
