However, although Mikayla Koffee Simpson has accomplished a lot in a relatively short time, she remains focused and grounded.
That was clear yesterday as the Jamaican 23-year-old, who is five foot, sat down with the Weekend Buzz ahead of her performance at Hennessy Artistry tomorrow. (Video by Akeel Lovell)

The joy in her face and eyes are gone. She signed to the label and they stifled her. She had so much hype and hasn’t put out music in over a year. Terrible

I don't see anything to suggest the joy is gone. She gas just matured. She is now 24 after becoming famous at the young age of 18

@@amenakofi3317 she put out less than 5 songs since signing with the label. None of them were conscious songs like the ones that made her famous. All “trendy” American songs, completely different from her original style. She abandoned what gave her, her “buss”

@threethirtynine1514 she put out an entire album since signing. And I'm sure even a lot of conscious artists don't want to sing the same types of songs allllll the time.

@@amenakofi3317 its been going on for years. Jamaican artists always get stifled once they sign to a label. Mavado, sizzla, shaggy. They may get a hit 4 years down the line, but all their hype and momentum is run dry. It’s facts

@@amenakofi3317 and I mean no disrespect at all towards Koffee, I love her music and think she’s immensely talented. That’s why I get upset when the label doesn’t push her, or give her liberties to put out more music! My apologies if I offended you, I just get passionate about this subject because it’s been happening for so long to many artists
Love love love Koffee but this presenter is terrible. The questions were basic, his vibe was off, he missed soo many opportunities to dig deeper into some questions and there was nooo energy. She was trying but he sat there like vegetable. Waste of an opportunity - what a shame!
