Nateland | Ep #58 - The Olympics

Комедия

This episode, Nate, Breakfast, and Aaron have Olympic fever. The guys question how far back in time they would have to go to win an Olympic event, what event they would choose to best blend in if they had to go undercover, how Jesus would fare in the Olympics, and incorrectly question why soccer isn't an #Olympic sport (it is).

Guys antibiotic resistance isn’t people being reluctant to take them. It’s that taking them when they aren’t needed can cause bacteria to become resistant and not die. The bacteria is “resistant” not the people taking them. You all are awesome!! Love the podcast

As a fellow Nathaniel, I signed my name “Nate” in school. One time our teacher got very upset at someone who signed their name “Name” at the top of an essay and asked the culprit to fess up. After 10 minutes of heated silence, the entire class had to write a second essay as a punishment because the idiot wouldn’t own up. I got out some paper and started writing the new essay. As I sat there thinking how stupid you’d have to be to write “Name” instead of your Name, I glanced at the top of my new paper and saw “Name”. I was the stupid idiot. I accidentally wrote “Name” instead of “Nate”. Never told anyone. Did it several more times. Just felt like that might be comforting to Nate.

Sometimes I wonder if Nate is the muse for Brian Regan's "Hooked on Phonics" joke. As far as bragging about being the smallest: I grew up in Ashtabula County, Ohio. Nate, that's ASH-TUH-BYOU-LAH. The county is known for it's covered bridges. One year the city of Ashtabula built the largest covered bridge in the U.S; the bridge is 613 feet long. Three years later the neighboring city of Geneva built the shortest covered bridge in the US; the bridge is 18 feet long. Geneva is very proud of their short covered bridge. Thanks again for making the midweek drudge pass better. Nate, Bridge, and Gout, you guys are great! PS. Did Nate's collar bother anyone else?

Greetings to Nate, Brian, and Aaron! I love watching the podcast, and am really glad you started it. The way you guys do it really makes me feel like I'm there with you just hanging out. When I started watching these my wife, Gigi, could not stand watching with me. The first time I watched one with her in the Living room with me, about 20 minutes into it she looked up at the TV and practically yelled, "Is that guy still talking"?! At that point Nate was on a bit of a rant about something and had been talking about 5 minutes strait. Granted, what he was saying actually could have been said in a minute or less, it was obvious Nate had to get something off his chest, and took his time doing it. Gigi got up at that point and walked out of the room saying, "I can't listen to this any more". One month later and last night she was in the room for the whole "Olympics" podcast! She actually laughed out loud at about 5 different things. You guys are wearing Gigi down! Keep it up please, you guys are one of the brightest parts of my week!

I heard the Dvorak keyboard was actually too fast for a typewriter to handle. Since it was mechanical arms that printed the letters, they would get tangled if you typed too fast. QWERTY was supposed to have been adopted as the standard keyboard because it slowed typing a little and kept the most common letters far enough apart that they wouldn’t tangle up the mechanisms.

I am listening from the beginning for the third time and realized during the doppelgänger episode that Buford has surprisingly impressive lung capacity. He exhaled for about 8 seconds a couple of times. 8 seconds may not sound like much but when you hear it it’s AWHILE. Love the show!

There’s definitely soccer in the Olympics. Unfortunately it’s the only thing I can find the full event on all of the different streaming services other than track and basketball. They need to prioritize skeet shooting for sure. Keep up the good work Nate, Aaron, and Bouillon

Never heard of the island of Semisopochnoi until this podcast and now I see on the news that there is a volcano currently erupting there! One out of three simultaneous eruptions in Alaska today. I’m not saying Nate and the Folks had anything to do with this but I’m not saying we didn’t either! For the record, Aaron pronounced it right!

Milk money, in my youth, paid for a product that would spoil if stowed in a locker in the morning along with a lunch that was brought from home. It was mainly for elementary-school aged children.

"Let's go!" is a command I use with my dog. Which means, get in the truck. And I live in North Pole Alaska. I love the jokes ya'll make about this state, even though I've heard them all and made better ones.

A past supervisor asked a coworker how he could make a schedule for work on his computer, coworker told him to just “copy and paste” from doc 1 to doc 2, about a week later the supervisor gave us all our schedule, he had physically copied and pasted each persons name to another piece of paper, said he used 3 glue sticks! Haha

Also, will y’all have him on when he’s in Nashville in a few months? Don’t know if he can keep it clean for a couple hours (or a couple minutes), but Nate and Mark are my favorite comics (besides Norm)

If kinda knowing a little bit about stuff that doesn't matter was an Olympic sport. Nateland would get the gold. Seriously always makes me laugh keep it up.

Totally not part of the Olympics, but hearing Nate butcher words every episode and then nailing Oregon baffles me. Everyone seems to somehow say those 6 letters a dozen different ways. Thank you from a proud southern Oregonian who's not too far away from the Rhode Island size fire!

Nate, play canebrake or timberton next time you’re in Hattiesburg. Aaron, you’re supposed to drop your pants on the way to your ball if you don’t get past the ladies tees. Bon Iver is everything ‘like George Constanta’? Love the pod. #calfdowngout

Nate's ability to extrapolate elaborately imaginative stories based on a single name like "Katelyn Blanchard and the Milk Money Gang" is on par with Tolkien's. Maybe better. Have you considered writing a children's fantasy novel? Bombadil Bates could be the evil troll on the front cover who's obsessed with infant mortality statistics and early childhood experiments. Allister "The Grill" Weber would have to defeat him and save the children. If you do pursue this project, please send me a printed copy with Allister's autograph inscribed with his quote, "Shame drives progress". I'm sure it will be worth Billions once his blossoming golf career takes off.

Nateland is the Eric Moussambani of podcasts. According to this, in 2012 Moussambani "was appointed coach of the national swimming squad of Equatorial Guinea." That's like Nate becoming adjunct professor of Podcasts 101.

Hello Nate, Aaron and Broiler! Greetings from Pakistan! I have been a fan of Nate since I watched Tennessee Kid back when it came out and I am now a fan of Aaron and Bosnia as well! I love you guys and your ability to say whatever you're thinking about for the sake of comedy whether it's right or not. (That especially goes for Nate). P.S. I will keep commenting until I see you struggle with pronouncing my name
