NATANAM ADINAR
Lyrics: The poem which tells the story was written by Gopalakrishna Bharati
Choreographer: Rukmini Devi
About: This dance is a Kirtanam describing a famous event in the mythology of the great temple at Chidambaram, Madurai, Tamil Nadu. It is believed that the temple marks the location where the Lord Shiva himself manifested to a group of devotees to perform the cosmic Tandava, the dance of destruction and creation.

Arjun Rajah finally someone who made a sensible comment. People are ready to criticize Gosh even when they can’t deliver 0.01% of that and the purpose of street dancing is taking it to people...good to see someone on the same page...
Simply superb.....kudos to your team. Lord Shiva bless you and your team.
Wonderful performance... Jai. May Lord Nataraja bless you with all His bountiful blessings to perform more of His Dances so that everyone regardless Hindu or not, may have a chance to see His Divine Dance in public...A great seva you are doing bringing His Dance for all to see. Sarva Mangalam Asthu.
There is something magical that happens when you see Jai dance - something joyful and expansive, and so there is a perfect synchronicity in her face Her Guru is Ganesha Singh. Jai is one of those people whose step always has an extra bounce, whose eyes always twinkle with a hidden light, and whose smile takes you over. Her dance “The Birth of Joy”; referencing classical Indian dance in a way that is simultaneously ancient Eastern and contemporary Western. She lived in Bangalore, India . If you see audience , they too sit on the streets and view her dancing with spellbound trance .
Nice to see a beautiful woman so colourfully dressed doing such an articulate dance among such boring surroundings and drab people.
I'm an indian classical dancer too though I practice a different form..I came upon this video accidentally and I very much appreciate your enthusiasm. Music and dance are universal and it is just some very immature people who come up with the kind of comments I read below. Thumbs up to u and I also sugest that u go to india if u can and learn more..with due appreciation some corrections are in order..
I will discribe you in 3 words. "You are amzing". Your dance is great, one of the best i have ever seen.
I just read some of the comments Jai. Sad that people are so judgemental. Remember Jai that your devotion is pure and between God and you alone. You are answerable to no one else. Rejoice and spread the grace throughout the world!
namaskaaram-s.... I compliment and commend you upon your performance. It's very inspiring and moving to see you learn our holy & classical artform and perform it without any inhibition. Whereever you sing or dance with devotion, there itself is "Chidambaram" with the Lord beholding and accepting your dance/offering of devotion and sincerity. - continued...
Your dance gives me tears of Joy! Was so immersed in your dance that I didn't realise you were dancing on road until I read the comments. It doesn't matter where you dance. You are giving life to dance. May you stay blessed forever my dear. Love from Singapore.

Wonderful performance. Incredible . The mudras , the poise , but if you don't mind me telling u this . Please polish the fast beats and the mudras what I mean is I found a few fast steps where in the mudras and the beats were too hurriedly put across .... Trust it was one of best performances . I loved it

Very good dance and you are amazing. The only thing I would like to ask is why on the street? Thank you for the video..... Cheers!!
Bliss! Superb performance...enjoyed every bit. Grace, dignity, expressions, footwork everything is perfectly in place. The inner beauty of the artist reflects in her performance and the still poses were sheer delight to watch, seemed like paintings. I wish Jai Khalsa the very best in her quest for performing arts, and choosing Bharatnatyam speaks volumes for her understanding of the dance art form. Keep up the good work Jai, & thanks for this priceless tube.
You are simply superb and your dedication is cosmic. We love all your performances. Thanks for sharing with us.
Did you train AT Kalakshetra or by a student FROM there? Nick, a student of Kalakshetra style Bharatanatyam.

Sarama Sir!
Nice music and with clear vocalist, i find it hard to find the proper CDs :( since this is a happy dance I like you smiled appropriately although this isn't Rukmini Devi's choreography but overall nice to watch :)
Very impressive Jai...you were truly amazing...you are an inspiration to me, who wants to start learning the art (Kuchipudi to be precise) at 23...better late than never right..? (I thought you are leaning forward a bit too much, other than that, you were mind-blowing...)
hi madam... it was great performance.... i dont know what made you to choose BHARATHNATYAM, it made me very happy by seeing your performance, a small advice to you madam... i am missing some tenderness in your finger movements they are supposed be very relaxed.. apart from that you are awesome... sorry if i am wrong..... because i dont have that much knowledge in BHARATHNATYAM, but i see it regularly....
Nice
OK Is she/he a recent student or an older one? Nick

Gopal Krishna Bharti sung this song as I know because I am a Bharatnatyam dancer
@lawmany1 Thanjavur has only 81 karanas or postures. in other words it's not the complete set. kumbakonaman and chidambaram temple have the full set.
nice dance
Very neat dancing, you have good technique. I think there could be more devotional expression in your performance though, especially in the eyes. Otherwise great performance, especially out there on the street sharing Indian culture. I'd be too nervous to do that! :-)
I would work on the themes if this has to be done on the streets in front of an unexposed audience. Maybe a tillana or something more obvious and less nuanced, even a mix of contemporary world music with Bharatnatyam beats. Just a suggestion since you are trying to communicate with people who may have never seen this or know anything about this. Wonderful dancer, passionate, courageous, committed, all the best!!
You should perform in Chennai in the December Arts Festival - its the largest of its kind in the world!
@JaiKhalsa No Jai, you are....
Fantastic .....and elegant..........and stylish. I FELT IN LOVE WITH YOU IN JUST 2 MINUTES. WOULD YOU LIKE TO PERFORM THE SAME SHOW ON THE STREETS AND SQUARES OF FAMOUS ITALIAN TOWNS LIKE ROMA, VENEZIA, MILANO AND FIRENZE (ROME, VENICE, MILAN, FLORENCE)?
Love your dances...you are amazing & simply awesome. Can you please forward me the song for this dance...thanks & warm regards :)
Why on earth is this sacred dance being performed on the streets where people are biking in the background, drinking coffee, chatting....Have you seen anyone do ballet on the streets and trivialise it?
Xxx
u should maintain proper aramandi.. aramandi is the most important then comes other aspects.. all the best.!
All i can says is u have no clue about lord Nadaraja who is the lord of Baradanattiyam,,FYI HE danced in the middle of cemetry with Ghosts,,so i don;t know what u talking about Jai dancing on the street,,u just hating cuz sum 1 from different culture able to pull off this dance better then u hater,,,learn one thing in ur life: if u have nothing good to says then don't even says anything,,Jay u rock ,,keep up the good work
Should not perform in street... Disappointed
