I love the fact you don't treat them with kid gloves and actually tell them the truth and give them real critique, so many singing teachers don't give real critique and have their students leaving the same way they came in. Thank you its really refreshing to see someone why actually cares.

For all the people asking, the second song the girl in purple sings is I Never Knew his Name from Brooklyn the Musical. Which is confusing because she is talking about Clara from Light in the Piazza and then it suddenly switches to a whole other musical.

Natalie is just amazing. Her methodology is great, and she knows what she’s talking about. I’m studying opera at the moment and I can see all the techniques they have in common, just because she’s using her physiology super efficiently i.e. healthily. Singing naturally is what gives power to the voice…

Natalie has a great ear and is dead on with what she feels each singer could improve upon. You can hear a great difference in how she helps each student. However, I feel like sometimes she could say certain things in a nicer way. You can still get the point across without being super harsh. Positive feedback is just as important as negative feedback when you're teaching. I don't know if it's just because these are small snippets that some of the comments seem so rude (because the students do seem like they're taking it in stride) .. but if I was being taught, I wouldn't be able to sing anymore because I'd feel like I was about to cry.

I don’t know... I disagree. Sometimes you have to be willing to take some harsh notes if you wanna make it, even if it comes in a somewhat rude way. And plus, I’ve worked with some WAY more dead on and harsh vocal coaches before, and personally love Natalie’s style. But I totally see where you’re coming from. As a singer I find the way she teaches to be very helpful, and you can tell that every single one of those students improved. (Id LOVE to work with her)

If you’re signing up for a masterclass, you have to expect constructive criticism. She doesn’t owe them praise, she owes them lessons on how to improve. I don’t see anything in here that comes across as rude, she’s very justified in everything she’s saying and doesn’t let things slide if she’s trying to fix them.

***** Hey Natalie, I don't even know how I was led to your videos, but I have pretty much spent all day watching your videos. (Thanks you to I have been playing In Vienna by Linda Eder on repeat. Maybe you used that as a corny joke, but I actually love that song.) But I just wanted to ask you to PLEASE keep sharing videos like this. I mean I know you can't give all of your tricks out, but not all of us want to be in theater or have the money for lessons. Some of us, ie me, just wants to learn to sing better to begin a hospital ministry, as I know how redemptive suffering can be and I know how music can heal a soul. You are an intelligent, no B.S., effective and humorous teacher and I hope to continue learning more from you!!
