Natalie Weiss Breaks Down "Dyin' Ain't So Bad" @ The Broadway Teachers Workshop

Ойын-сауық

On July 8th, 2018, Natalie led a healthy belting seminar for 60 high school music directors / voice teachers across the country in NYC at The Broadway Teachers Of America Workshop. Here she instructs the group how to give different colors on "Dyin' Ain't So Bad" from the musical, Bonnie & Clyde. Brian Russell Carey on keys.
Natalie's workshops provide teachers and students with various techniques to access a healthy belt, open up the head voice, strengthen the middle mix, and personalize song lyrics. She incorporates music theory and pitch accuracy to ease fears around ad-libbing. Natalie guides singers with her trademarked method to break down riffs/runs from pop icons and often refers to her mission as "Pop Singing for Dummies."

It’s really interesting to try and copy some of the techniques you do in live performances as a male singer. I tend to spread on certain vowels when i belt to try and imitate the style and tone but my vocal coach talks me out of it lol. I literally learned how to train my head and mix voices over the years through your teaching reels so thanks for posting vids like these!

I can never forget the 45 minutes when I got the chance to learn with Natalie two years ago in NYC. I'm still reviewing the recording of that lesson and figuring out something new each time. Thankfully I do way better than I did back to then. Thanks Natalie!! love from China, Jonas :D

I enjoy your videos so much I admire the command you have over your voice- I understand what people mean when they say the voice is an instrument after watching your videos. I would love more of these videos where you explain and demonstrate the different options and choices you make when you sing a song.

I dont remember what I said in those comments

It depends on your definition of "classically trained." She's not an opera singer and wasn't trained to be one. She did performing arts in high school with some voice lessons and went to Penn State for music education / musical theatre.
