She was and is a wonderful person.
To many of us, Natalie was already back then the renowned american treasure she would later become known as. Her integrity has remained intact as a songwriter, and her beautiful voice is singular & unlike any other.
She is brilliant
It's important to have parents that love and support you. She's ❤️ beautiful

An Angel singing heavenly melodies full of Poetry!!! ❤💋❤💋❤💋❤💋❤💋❤💘💘💘
Lookin' back and nowadays, you succed in keep your values alive. It was hard, I know, but you did it! Pride of you, Natalie!
I've been singing your songs for decades. I remember requesting and waiting for more songs to be released in karaoke version so I can share your message. Everyone knows and loves your songs. Thank you for your brilliant heart and mind. I am singing about me when I sing your songs.
She never wanted to be the queen, or commercial spokesperson, or just keep trotting out the same stuff every two or three years. Just Natalie singing meaningful songs. I do wish today's female singers would cover her and the Maniacs more.
I really liked Trouble Me. Beautiful.

If you’ve ever taken care of a beloved, aging parent, who is challenged by declining health and increasing physical difficulties, Ms. Merchant and Mr. Drew’s simple, yet extremely profound song takes on an especially personal meaning.
Great interview. Thanks for posting this!
The young man in the beginning is Aaron from MTV's The Real World: Los Angeles.

I just spotted that too. I was watching it and thinking, "isn't that the guy from Real World?" Kind neat in the sense that it was 2-3 years before their show.

Natalie.❣️
Humble beginnings to ..... never sold out to the powers that be, original. Didn’t go for the money grab but ended up ok.
What a babe!

I'd take Natalie any day over her. Back then though. Natalie hasn't aged very well.

@@dookdawg214 well, I think she has aged well. She's real, her spirit carries her so well. She is a beautiful older woman. ...we've all aged. She's got me by 5 years, I love her honest, and real look. My wife carries her age in a similar way....she is honest, active, vibrant...nothing fake about either of them. Celebrate what God gave you!

Sad. I heard that the band tried its best to stay together after her departure but NINE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE MANIACS just wouldn’t fit on the marquee anywhere. 🤔
NICARAGUA?
The question about being a rock star was funny. If anything she was the anti-rock star. Interesting the band broke up 4 years later....great music.

Did she get cancer from the brush killer agent orange? My dad was marine over in Vietnam and was awarded a purple heart aswell.

In a way, she was the Yoko Ono of 10,000 Maniacs. No, that’s not right, more like Peter Gabriel and Genesis.

I think she left because the bands sound was limited.

@@jamesdemichele3649 you might be right. But, at least in the early days, that band rocked. Her lyrics/vocals were mostly irrelevant in a live show. She was an alternative/artsy pop singer in a post-punk band. I’m rambling lol

Dumbest comment ever. Without Natalie 10,000 Maniacs SUCKED. Natalie was the only reason fans showed up.

10k maniacs were first wave american indie-alternative pioneers, self releasing their first records before signing to a major label. Natalie was always more talented than you'd expect as the band always won over any lucky new listener with their great songs.

Why is talking with that strange foreign accent, is it to make herself sound more cultured? She's from rural New York lol
