I got Tigerlilly not long after my wife passed away to leukemia, after one perfect year of marriage. This song wrecked me, and I couldn’t believe Natalie captured my feelings so perfectly…. And still does, the years have eased the pain and beautiful memories remain, but I still at times have to revisit that agony…. An absolutely perfect encapsulation.

I lost a wonderful person 4 years ago... my mother - a warrior who battled cancer for almost 11 years. I put this beautifull song to for her listen and always she smile and ask me what this song means and I answered: It was talking about a beautiful declaration and demonstration of love, affection and respect between a beautiful couple - a beautiful couple like her and my father were. And even today I hear and cry, but it's a cry of joy, of examples, of good times beside a "beloved wife" I will play this song on my wedding day in honor of you "Dona Lolô" You miss so much...

By far the saddest song ever to exist. Should go in to the Guinness book of world records for such. The pain can be felt even as a single man. And just the way Natalie sings it and lives it at the moment. I don't think anyone else can sing it and get the same affect.

Every time I hear this song, all I can see is my grandfather the day my grandmother died. He was broken in a way I've never seen before and doubt I'll ever see again. It broke my heart.

Intrinsic beauty improves with age, and oozes out of Natalie Merchant here. And the way she turns and marches up to the mic to sing, to grieve, to rage, “And all the joy she gave to my life...goes with her tonight.” Achingly beautiful.

You just had to throw that stupidity in didn't you? You are not worthy of this woman's genius and talent. We can all agree that Natalie would never leave such a heartless shallow and vain comment. BTW she is 55 so let her @#$%$#@% age will you!
