@@jackreactsenespanol4761 She's got two versions, so it might be good to see a comparison: first, from the title track of her Grammy Award winning album by the same name of "Hasta la Raíz" that was released in 2015, and then again the version she has on her newest album, "Un Canto Por México, Vol. 1," that was just released last month (May, 2020). Both are excellent and are what make me very proud of my Mexican-American roots! ¡Que Viva México! ¡Que Viva Natalia Lafourcade!

This album was called muses which she was inspired by her Latin-American folklore favorite singers. And yes this music is considered folk/indie. If you dive into her music you’ll see her changes, at the beginning of her career she was more rock/pop and used to fallow inspirations like Bjork, then eventually she added Brazilian sounds such Bossa Nova. Nowadays she is one of the few artists that promotes vernacular and folkloric music, I recommend you to react to songs such: “Ser Humano”, Azul, “Cursis Melodías”, “Hasta la Raíz”, “Nunca es suficiente”, “Mujer Divina, Aventurera, or if you want to see her beginnings there is, “Busca un Problema”or “En el 2000” BTW there is a duet with Juan Gabriel called “Ya No Vivo Por Vivir”

She's an incredible composer as well as a very talented singer, and you're 100% right, her work is heavily inspired by traditional Mexican music, so if you enjoyed hearing something more authentic you should definitely check out more from her. Los Macorinos are superb musicians who have collaborated with her on her recent albums and live performances. Check out her Tiny Desk concert if you can, it's a delight

The song is originally inspired in huapangos which are native tunes from her hometown Veracruz also the little guitar is called jarana which is a typical instrument played in huapangos and sones veracruzanos

You can try Natalia Lafourcade "el amor acaba" is a cover from José José, a beautiful song
