Natalee Holloway Case Analysis | The Murder Part #5
The Murder Part #5: Natalee Holloway
On May 30, 2005, Natalee Holloway disappeared during a visit to Aruba. She has never been found and is presumed dead. A man named Joran Van der Sloot was suspected by the police, but was never charged with her murder. In 2012 Van der Sloot would be sentenced to 28 years in prison after being found guilty of a 2010 murder in Peru unrelated to Holloway.
“The Murder Part” featuring Dr. Grande, Michael Smith, and Jeff Pincin.

Loving the podcast but it would be nice to hear more from Dr. grande and the guy on the right

Agreed. The middle guy is really front and center, a bit too much imo, although he bears great knowledge.
I’m so glad to see The Doctor in conversation again, it brings out his smile and just makes it more fun :)
My favourite is epic beard man. After dr grande of course. Great chemistry between you three, really excellent content.

Love that they introduce themselves every episode but people still say beard man and guy on the right xD
Much more balanced input - thank you! Y’all are really hitting your stride - I am looking forward to future shows!
Los Angles area here and Jack In the Box is still here- I’ve got two within 5 miles of each other and I go because late night tacos 🌮
Great start - I've watched all episodes. The host/co-host balance still needs improvement. Just a suggestion: seems to me the roles you're each best suited to are: Mike: INFORMATION. You've got a ton of it, and much appreciated, but you're taking up way too much oxygen in the room. Try to get down to maybe 40% (vs. 80%). Dr. Grande: INSIGHT. You bring tremendous value here ... it's what your fans love most about you (ok, I'm a sucker for those shirts...), and it's really why we tune in and have followed you over from your original channel. 3rd Host (my apologies, but the intros have been sparse): INQUISITIVENESS. Represent us viewers and ask the questions WE would be asking. Ask (by name) about the info of the case (MIKE) and for expansion/elaboration/clarification on the insights offered (Dr. Grande). I think it should be a roughly 40/40/20 contribution to make the podcast great. Thanks for considering the suggestion.🙂

We considered your comment this evening and it was hotly debated. Our conclusion is that we will each contribute 40% and will, therefore, give 120% during each episode.

Loving the content! Feels like these podcasts are over in about 10 minutes! Can't wait to see what other topics are discussed
Your discussion was fair and balanced. The fact that it happened outside the USA undoubtedly played a huge role in this case. @Dr. Grande - So prisons in Peru...Generally speaking, prisons in South America are cruel, inhumane and denigrating. There is overcrowding, unsafe sanitation, violence, gangs, etc...As such, prisoner protests, massacres and riots are very common. It’s truly a picture from hell. Movies have been made on this topic, the movie “Carandiru” comes to mind. @Mike - 🎶🎵Aruba, Jamaica oh I want to take you, Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mamma....oh I wanna take you down to Kokomo.🎶🎵 One of my favorite songs.😉 It actually came to mind while I was listening to the discussion. @Jeff - “Three strikes you are out..” 😂 That’s funny. One could argue that in Latin America and the Caribbean, depending on the detective it could also be - which version do I pick?🤔 I am Brazilian and my father was a lawyer and my sister a prosecutor, so I have some insight into how the judicial system works over there. Thank you again for the wonderful work, I truly enjoy listening to your podcasts. ❤️❤️❤️

I do enjoy those Beach Boys. Thanks for your insights on the penal system of some South American nations. I have heard some not good things about them, but knowledge of those conditions is not one of my areas of expertise.
So glad I found this channel! I’ve been a fan of Dr. Grande for ages!
I'd imagine Aruba is a popular spring break vacation location. That's probably why they might have been expected to return in the future.
Such a tragic case! Great discussion to listen to!
I recommend adding a puppy to this show.

Hi Bella!
Dr. Grande did an excellent job of trying to follow a timeline and keep this organized but the others interjecting randomly and bringing up things that don’t go in the proper order is confusing. It just doesn’t flow. Also, at times the interjections don’t really provide a any pertinent information. Maybe it’s just hard to adjust to this format when I’m such a fan of Dr. Grande’s channel on his own.
Americans being rude is a new one for me. I live in Ireland and every American tourist I met have been super friendly. And I’ve met quite a few!

I love these podcasts. Sometimes, the chair noise distracts from the discussions. Can anything be done about that noise?

Any chance you folks could release these as an Apple podcast?

There's a jack in the box near me in North Carolina. I've never eaten there.
loved the balance you created in this episode! this case is baffling to me and your conversational analysis is super interesting!
Such a sad story. Job well done Doctors.
If cannabis makes you give false statements to the police then I'm in real trouble
AWESOME
Good analysis. Mike is full of information. Nice. 👍
Arrest works the same way in uk, it enables you to investigate, being arrested and charged are z separate things
“Yeah he’s a regular angel” - LMAO 🤣
A little late to the party but one sad truth of single white female visitors to the Caribbean I've observed is the complete suspension of good judgement and inhibitions in pursuit of the proverbial 'island romance' with an island guy. While most return home safely with far less money than they planned, this is an extreme case of what tragedy is possible when one takes chances and is victimised by virtue of vulnerability. Very sorry for her and her family.
I ate at jack in the box in California few years back pretty sure...but Delaware has cheesesteak ..your better off lol. unusual case for sure!! lots of fun..its awesome to see the doc hangin with his friends crackn cases:)

I think you have a mic issue that makes it hard to listen to, like the mic is dropping in and out
That is an absolutely incredible beard
Enjoying the podcast, I will give two quick feedback comments - 1) there seems to be a slight fuzzy noise whenever someone speaks, I’m sure it’s as simple as something being turned up too loud. 2) I like how you guys don’t speak over each other, it feels like you’re hearing what the other person is saying and not just in a hurry to jump in and say what you want Also when I think of this case (and Jon Benet), I think of the “missing white girl syndrome”. The media seems to go nuts over pretty white girls from well off families, but often don’t give much air time to stories of minorities or poor people gone missing.
I wonder if our very age-restrictive laws about alcohol consumption are really very helpful. Does someone have data to show that these laws do help? I think the UK and the European Union do alright with a drinking age of 18.
Why the hell we let that guy get away with it??
It was a GHB/Alcohol overdose. They disposed of the body Miles and Miles off Shore, sharks got her.
The 18 drinking age is not that much of a problem in Europe, so that should question the relationship USians have to alcohol.

Holy Spirit that's a Bear of a man!
On Peruvian prisons : they are in general not funded by the state apart from the guards making sure you don't get out and from the building. The families are expected to feed and support the prisoners, the internal organization is dependent on the group dominating the prison. You can find some interesting videos about comrades of the "shining path" ("Sendero Luminoso", a communist guerilla very similar to the Khmer Rouge) holding parades in "their prisons" here on youtube. In his case he's more or less dead. The father can't supply him with constant security which would mean taking over the prison nor would supplies reach him in most cases. He's fucked. But the Peruvian prison system in general works well for the locals, it's not as bad as it sounds in an area where you don't want the security forces to take care of you. The prisoners even have a right to get visits by spouses so they can have sex and continue their marriage life. He just made the most stupid move possible apart from getting arrested with drugs in Bangkok as a foreigner. That's the jackpot.
Jack in the Box reinvented themselves and they are very big in the West.
jeff is most def a qt
This is why they say be open with your kids at let them experience with alcohol at home. At a reasonable age of course. But if you ask me what it tastes like, try this beer at 16 watching sports with dad or something. Much better than having your child get their first overly drunk nights abroad.
He has admitted this and this was aired on dutch TV. I'll send you the link after I found it..The story was he was seen by Islanders dumping a body in the sea. But in Aruba Police were just not up to the job. He was about to face charges in the US but thought he would get life there and that's why he admitted to the later crime. He is said to be a psycopath...I followed that case when all this had happened. I am from Belgium so this is close to home. Vandersloot's parents were rather influential on Aruba and he was a bit of a thug, Spending his days swindling tourists out of their money taking them to the best places and dealing drug. They sent him to the Netherlands and he appeared on every talk show you can mention. It was then that a detective, Peter R. Devries, got him to admit on camera. The detective has since been killed by a suspect he was investigating. Joran was jailed in Peru, in a jail surrounded by wild country. No one hardly ever escapes there and lives. He is married to a woman that visits the inmates with sigarets and so and has a daughter with her. She recently got arrested for dealing drugs in prison and Joran was involved so he has to spend some extra years in that Jail. His parents were as shocked but his mother visits him a few times a year.
This is the third episode I've watched since yesterday The other 2 were quite long over 11.2 hrs. This was 57 min. I preferred the shorter .Natalie Holloway's disapearance has haunted me. I feel for her parent's and family/friends .She is presumed dead by many yet no proof .Joran van der Sloot is presumed guilty yet no "real "evidence. We may never know what really happened.
I've always been so interested in this case and what really happened to natalee, she was absolutely beautiful with a bright future ahead of her it's heartbreaking. I believe she was date raped and it overdosed her, perhaps they got rid of her body but putting her out to sea, but then how was she not found? There's so many different theory's. Heartbreaking for the family to still have no awnsers. Really enjoyed this podcast guys 🎤👍
I find it interesting, that Van DER Sloot, like OJ Simpson, was accused of a crime and all the evidence points to their guilt, yet they get away with that crime, but are later sent to prison on another unrelated charge. I think people like them, sociopaths , behave the same way throughout their lives, and eventually it catches up with them. I call it Karma. Maybe it is . RIP Natalie or if you are alive, God bless.
Ok
Jeff is such a muppet
And why should Aruba jump to action because a grown up tourist doesn't report after some days? They don't have to and honestly if I'd visit a country and party there just to find the police looking for me because I wasn't seen for some days I'd really be pissed. In this case it's a bad case, sure. But at the start you sounded like you expected the local police to babysit your kids because they didn't learn to handle alcohol. Tag them or give them bodyguards, that's clearly not the job of other countries except when there's a reason to expect foul play - same as what would happen if I'd travel to the USA and don't show up for breakfast at my hotel : nothing. Unless they find my body.
You still pronounce the name of Joran van der Sloot wrong. The J is pronounced as Y in Yates. The A's in "Joran" and "van" are pronounced as the A in "calm". Furthermore, the emphasis lies on "Sloot" and not on "van". I am Dutch so I am an expert on this matter :).
Burying a brunette in a landfill is one thing, but a blonde?!?! That's weird.
