Edits make it look so straight forward and easy at least you have the same problem I always have. A simple looking job is never simple.

Thanks for the video- had the same issue removing the valve cap. I took off the coolant hoses - you have to drain the coolant of course, but not a big deal, and the hoses come off a lot easier than your throttle body cables and engine mount i think. Just another way to do it - but you're right, i thought i was nuts. The videos of some other 350 models (later ones i think) don't have that issue so i thought i was going nuts.

Good for you Nat, you can ride with some very decent skills and work on your bike, my Mrs cant even put water in the washer bottle of her car.

I love it and I love it when Josh shows me how to repair and maintain parts of my bike and if he's not 100% sure we just do a little research. I always get him to check my work just to make sure the nuts and bolts are done up tight enough. We work and play together, isn't that what it's all about? 😁😍🤩 I service my own car too and make sure that's all good too. I put it on the hoist at work, makes it hell easier. I love it :)

Good job Nat that bike is clean do you pull it apart when you clean it?

🤣🤣🤣 nah not quiet but she does get washed after every ride, I only washed it a bit when it was all apart so shit wouldn't drop in the engine while the cover was off. If the marks on her are annoying me I'll rip out the gumption and get em off 😁 works a treat.

Thanks for the video ! I've been following for quite a while now, always been into adventure riding. I have the 790 R and now looking to have a 350 exc : mostly riding alone, weight is becoming a real concern when exploring ! Now that you can compare with the T7, how to you think the 350exc will handle with 20kg of luggages and a 75kg pilot ?

Yeah I reckon the bike could probably handle it, but shit the maintenance schedule would do ya head in for adventure riding! Great for little day rides though

@@MVDBR ahah yeah I'm aware of that ! But the 350/450/500 engines seems to be reliable and doesn't seem do need the same maintenance when not use as a race bike... Do you have a video where you compare your T7/390 vs the 350/500 ?

@@cracotator nah haha like chalk and cheese that comparison 😬 From what I understand the SOHC 500/450 engine is a little more reliable than the twin cam 350 which does like to rev a lot more, but in reality if you treat them well they all go great for a long time. My 500 had over 10k kms on it when I sold it with all original internals 💪 was still going strong

I have a new 2022 EXC-F 350 and manual says check valve clearance at first service at 50 km (31 miles). I was surprised to see that. I wonder if that is a different recommendation than the older model years.

Wow 😮 Checked the manual for the 2016 and it says first valve check after 1 operating hour, then every 30 hours after that. Quite excessive in my opinion, the valve train on these bikes are really good.

I got a 2013 sxf 350 with 85 hrs on it, nt had any issues with it. But it backfires a little when engine breaking. Only quietly thou. Someone said could be valve clearance. It's strts sweet as thou. Should I wrry bout it? What's the worst tht wuld happen if they are out?? Can th piston hit the valve in these bikes? Or will it just not strt before tht happens

Not sure mate, I thought backfires were usually from running a bit lean. The valves on these bikes are pretty good, as far as I know the first sign they're getting a bit tight is hard cold starts. Never had an issue with the KTMs my 500exc had nearly 300 hours and valves were still in spec with zero adjustment 💪
