Do people even understand the lyrics of this song very well.... Nat Brew revealed one of the world's best kept secrets. History and truth that has been lost to us for over 2000 years now.... When i was young, there was a very old lady who use to tell me this stuff, but i thought she was crazy. But when i grew up and did my own deep historical research, i was shocked to find out she was actually telling me historical facts. Now, i wish she is alive to tell me more,....but it too late.

Nat Brew, I salute you. The Gas gave Ghana, Africa and indeed the world Hi-Life but we've missed out on the creative process for years.Lets create more of the ET Mensahs, Saka Acquayes, King Bruces, Adolf Dokus, Jerry Hansens, Ghanabas - the Pioneers. An historical work of art, well researched, excellently performed, the gentle repetitive upbeat constantly fused with piano rendition classically played, the percussion work is so beautifully interspersed in the music. Great music in Gamee weimor.

Thanks.I am not a musician but the rhythm of the song and the beats are authentically Ga.And the narrative of the migration routes of Ga origin is quite interesting too.Well done Nat.There are more of this to be unearthed. As a kid there was a tune referred to as ‘ sontin’ which I was told was a fusion played by the artists with percussions and a home made instrument of a box hollowed out in the front with strings attached to the two ends.I learned later that the tune evolved when the European, here British , officer would demand that the artists should play something on a given occasion. This is the origin of the name of the rhythm ‘sontin.’ It existed side by side with High life which, as the name indicates, was played in high society of the time.Sontin was grassroots.

@@juniorgyamfi3931he is saying we came from far away lands . If you listen he is mentioning countries like Israel , Egypt, Sudan , Mali and etc … Once upon a time there were tribes who had to travel/migrate through the above mentioned countries to be where we are today. He also mentioned Nii Tackie , Nii Meriku Adu , Yaa Asantewaa and a whole lot of powerful people . Those were names of some of our leaders whose lineage lead and fought for us during those migration period . This is my little understanding and just a nutshell to our powerful history .

It is indeed one of the greatest compositions ever. The song is packed with different layers: 1. It is spiritual, cultural and African, 2. It is universal; the rhythm relates to most ethnic groups in Ghana and as far as countries like Nigeria, Senegal...also relate to the rhythm. 3. It is history - captures modern Ghana's ancient trans-migrational route from great Kingdoms - Israel, Egypt, Ethiopia, Sudan, Songhai, Old Ghana, Mali ...to Gold Coast - Ghana. He also mentions names of great Kings of the various ethnic groups and Yaa Asantewaa; 4. It talks of the White man's deceptive tendencies and how they pretended to lift off our burden, and rather burdened us with all the sufferings and evils we have come to. The refrain in the song means "They feigned wiping our tears away, and ended up wiping our glory and greatness" "They made us blind and put impediments on our expecting us to trip and fall". They say we can't jump, because of the craters they have created ahead of us, but we believe in God to make us persevere and scale every impediment...
