Today's guitar lesson is a simple way to make those major pentatonic licks sound Nasty! It's actually pretty easy and with three surprisingly simple concepts you will be dishing out some seriously tough-sounding major pentatonic licks in no time.
Topics covered
1. Modifying the major pentatonic scale
2. Adding chord tones from the progression inside your pentatonic scales (which also helps you use the modes in your phrasing) making sure you hit all of the right notes!
3. Learning how to throw a little minor pentatonic love inside those major pentatonic shapes for some seriously aggressive lick ideas!
Mix it all up and you will be on your way to some Nasty Major Pentatonic Blues Licks!

LOL- way cool and good song....check it out if you can.......😃

Would be good if you could demonstrate these licks on a backing track tho. do you have these pedals where you can record your chord progression then play it back? if you do, perhaps you can do that, then demonstrate the licks on top of the chords so we really hear it. I think it would be even better, but great video man.

I can not tell you how much it means to me that you mentioned how great Don Felder and Joe Walsh are or were -especially the Licks they came up with on Hotel California. IMO Joe is not mentioned near enough as a great player and if it wasn't for -Don - a lot of the Eagles "Hits" wouldn't have been hits at all.

    The more I learn about playing guitar and improvisational soloing, the more I realize that you can conceivably land on ANY note in any given piece. But if you want it to sound good and sound like it belongs, you have to understand the structure of what you’re playing. This lesson really helps explain how and when it works to play certain notes. I feel like BP has given me permission to play certain things that other guitar teachers have said to stay away from. Thanks for the lesson. There’s a LOT to learn here…

  • @BrettPapa

    @BrettPapa

    2 жыл бұрын

    That is the typical Rock way to do a progression and it makes it more of a mixolydian mode which is still a major mode. G Major pentatonic also doesn't have a F# in it so it all works.

    Next time you are at a Wal Mart, big grocery store, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. look for a Bottle Brush to clean your blender with so you don’t cut your fingers anymore. Por favor. Thanks. 👍🎸🙏😎✌️

    @@BrettPapa It is amazing that is how most accidents happen, being in a hurry. You are the Man, you still have more digits than Django Reinhardt. LOL Play On Jimi !!!

    Your characterization of people who like jazz is uncalled for and near unforgivable. I'm pretty much a simple person with simple tastes but I love jazz. I feel an emotional involvement with the music, from the early stuff with Louis Armstrong et al to bebop and beyond (especially the avant garde of the sixties). I'm not the cartoon stereotype you as much as sneered at. Is the music of Parker, Blakey, Mingus, Coltrane, The Art Ensemble of Chicago and associates something created by and for poseurs? I think not.

    It was a joke lol! I listen to jazz heavyweights around the house all day. Love Jazz. Some of the greatest phrasing and composing ever. Think you might be taking my videos a little too seriously if you are not familiar with the channel I joke around a lot.
