O yes, I remember you mentioning the nasturtium kimchi I had spoke of. I have not make it in a couple years and you reminded me that now is a perfect time to do that again as they are exploding. I think I am going to get another vinegar going first and finish filling up my jar of dried nasturtium leaves, then I will move on to the kimchi :)

This is my first year growing nasturtiums. I had no idea how prolific they are! I'm sure that I pick 40 flowers a day, plus dehydrating leaves. They've become like the zucchini that I can't share anymore! I'm starting a gallon of vinegar today. I don't know what I'll do with it, but I hate wasting. This one was very timely, thank you Heidi!!😊😊😊

Great tips. The seeds I bought from you this year, feverfew, marshmallow, and calendula, all germinated beautifully and are a part of my new garden area with some other herbs. I missed out on the nasturtiums, though, so I hope to add them in the future. I have never tasted rhubarb, but so many have been speaking of it this year that my curiosity is peaked. I love tart flavors. I’ll have to try some out next season.

Heidi, my nasturtiums are doing really good this year and I’d like to make your antibiotic. I don’t make the homemade wine but I’d rather use something like that instead of the glycerine or honey. So could I use a purchased wine or vodka and make it more like a tincture and it still work the same way as an antibiotic. I have a lot of ear trouble and would love to have this on hand. Sorry if this is a silly question. Thanks for your help. Love your site. Have learned so much from you. God bless.

I made mine similar and my fermentation starters are made the same as a ginger bug but I use any fruit or herb to make the starters. I used to only make ginger bugs until I found through experimentation I can do it with anything. Ginger does not grow well (or at all) here and is expensive so I was thrilled to find I could even use dandelions to make a starter. For the rhubarb soda though, I use the dried rhubarb starter I had made

  • @RainCountryHomestead

Yes, it does. It needs to be a breathable fabric of natural fibers. This is why I always go with cotton both for the dehydrator trays and the covers for the vinegar. Polyester is not only not as breathable, you really do not want that coming in contact with your food, especially when dehydrating
