Is it safe to walk? Are you most likely to have aggressive vendors? It will be my first time in september 2019 and I wonder if is less crowded and safe? Great video very informative, Thanks!

Yes, it is safe to walk. To be honest the aggressive vendors are in and right around the port area. Once you get to Bay Street and past the Straw Market people pretty much leave you alone. If not then a simple “no thanks” does the trick. Many people make the 15 minute walk to this beach and we were in a steady stream of people the whole way. The beach area had areas that were more crowded by the Tiki Bikini Hut and less crowded on the west end but they both seemed relatively safe. That being said I would be cautious, keep an eye out and keep my belongings secure since you are in a foreign country and there are pickpockets and thieves no matter where you go.

If there is no rampant corona virus on cruise ships in the U S in 2 weeks, we are suppose to do a two day cruise there. Thank you for the information. this is just what i wanted to know. Also, do cell phones work on the island? Thank you.

We were just there on Saturday! No Coronavirus. The ships seem to be being extra vigilant and the Bahamas won’t even let you off the ship if you have been to mainland China in the last three weeks. The beach was nice although it was cloudy when we were there. Water was cool, probably in the low 70’s. Cell phones may or may not work depending on your plan. Our friends we were with have T-mobile and they were offered while there (through email or text) a free plan at slower speeds for up to a certain amount of texts, calls and data. There are wifi spots all over Nassau where you can get access for free or with purchase. We went back up to John Watlings Rum Distillery (one of our favorite places) and they have free WiFi. Junkanoo Beach also had free WiFi at the Tiki Bikini Hut while we were there but it wasn’t that good. The WiFi code it behind the musician at the stage.

I think all of the cruise lines are taking it very seriously. I think you should have good beach weather while you are there. We just happened to go when there was a cold front and cloudy weather. We have AT&T and we can use WiFi calling with our phones so it worked for us while we were there. Have a great cruise!

Jill Damron I think so but I am not sure. It is on the tip of Paradise Island past Colonial Beach. You would have to take the water taxi from the port area over to Paradise Island, get to Colonial Beach on the west side of Atlantis and then walk west along the beach to the end.
