I have Ken Burns to thank for this. I had never heard of this beautiful vocalist or her band if not for his "Country Music" documentary.

I think credit should be given to Carlisle Floyd who wrote the opera "Susannah" from which Trees on the Mountain is from. This aria is similar to an Appalachian folksong but was an actual original composition by Floyd. This is a beautiful arrangement of that piece but not an original song/aria.
