You should check out NASCAR 98, NASCAR 99, and NASCAR 2000 on the PS1 someday. NASCAR 2001 on the PS2 was okay, too.

I only like the thunder games after that they were trash by ea.

EA absolutely peaked in 2004. Madden 05, MVP Baseball 2005, NASCAR 05, and Tiger Woods PGA 2005...all classics. You didn’t even have to like those sports or sports in general to love those games.

They did include a shorter triangle track though, which I always enjoyed more than Pocono.

I've always loved how according to EA, your career in Nascar can start with a illegal street race in New York against Ryan Newman.

Well, who is here after seeing Ross Chastain perform yesterday the wall ride move from NASCAR 2005: Chase for the Cup in the Xfinity 500 race?

For me, I loved playing NASCAR Thunder 2003. The paint schemes were amazing, the music was great, and it was a great game that marked my childhood. For me, the NASCAR games from 2003-2008 were very well done.

Damnn that Jeff Gordon corvette race brought me right back to being a teenager. This game was so ahead of its time along with so many other games from this time period.

According to Shawna Mayfield, Jeremy's wife, Jeremy wasn't even told about the cover deal. He just wasn't included.

I definitely think that this is the greatest NASCAR game ever made. A lot of people think NASCAR Thunder 2004 is, but I would always describe '05 as '04 on steroids.

@@TyRaff A combo of 04 and 05 career mode would've been great. Imagine working your way through the 4 different series while also developing that teams cars and hiring crew members. It's a shame I was too young to really play the games the right way or comprehend all the features that came with both games.

Imagine Nascar 05 with thunder 03s ai.

Fight To The Top mode is the best career mode in any sports game ever. The game is worth the price for this mode alone, it also doesn't matter if you are a NASCAR fan or not, I wasn't a NASCAR fan when I first played this game and enjoyed FTTT mode so much I started keeping up with NASCAR before too long.

This is still my favorite Nascar game. I played the shit outta it back in 04/05 and I still do

Never played 05 but I loved 06/07. Sports games of the mid 00s were so good

All the NASCAR games 03-07 are fantastic. Can't get enough playing those games.

I know a lot of people hate Nascar heat but the truth is they are trying to give us what we want(that's rare these days) and they are mainly focusing on a deep career mode which is very cool IMO

5:45 I always tried to be the hero, so I got really mad when I hit someone. I'm not sure about 05 but I know in Nascar 07 you could use the voice commands to say you're sorry after you hit someone

I always did the opposite I loved Earnhardt Jr so I loved his intimidating bump and run style he adopted from his father. I always tried to be just like him, all the other drivers hated me but it was enjoyable

@@ratlov9983 It was made easier with the intimidate feature, but in general, just staying close getting on their ass to put pressure is the best way to get a competitive edge. If you can put the person ahead of you into a state of fear, they'll make bad decisions and eventually mess up, and you can take advantage of that. Its weird because it shouldn't work, the leading car should be confident knowing he's ahead, but if you can get into his head you can win the race

All you needed to do to have fun in this game was to drive backwards

Just got into this game a little over a year ago. It's pretty awesome. I really like the Old Spice High Endurance Speedway road course and the Red Ball Speedway. I am not a fan of NASCAR and never really have been, but I do like racing games and this is a really fun game. I can never seem to win at the Superspeedways though.

5:00 Honestly, this is a thing where I don't totally blame EA. I blame the consumers. Because part of the casual community doesn't want to spend time in the minors(talking about all sports) they instead ask the developer to make it so they can choose their team and start from the top. Some companies remained with the draft system(like MLB The Show) and some have an option to either choose your team or start from the one you choose(NHL) but most just force you to choose a team and go from there, eliminating that Fight To the Top mentality

NHL be a pro literally has the option to play an entire major junior career in the CHL to get drafted. Don’t comment on things you have no clue on please. // and what are you talking about anyway the newest NASCAR Heat games have you start in the lowest levels (still modified car) - people love RPG careers with progression.. in 2K you start of on the bench as a 60 overall.. idk what you are going on about in F1 you start off in F2 - people begged for this FOREVER. You need to place the consumer blame on ULTIMATE TEAM.. but it makes sense.

@@ayTesz I do know what I'm talking about. In the NHL part, I have a typo as you can see I meant you can either choose a team or go through the process you talked about. In F1 and NBA 2K you choose your team so there's no draft whatsoever. In Nascar Heat, yup it's one of the few games that has this process. A lot of people don't like this system anymore. I love it. Nascar Heat career mode is awesome, NHL is too and RTTS as well,but 2k, F1 and so on have career modes that have a good concept but you choose your team.

@@ayTesz Just look at 2k's mycareer. I've always been a huge fan of it but at this point they force you to be the superstar. I don't have a lot of fun with it anymore after the story part ends. Truth is a lot of people don't like that progressive system(the casual gamers) BUT the real Og's still love it. Not every company is showing love to us

Thunder 2004 (had cockpit mode) and Dirt 2 Daytona (better physics) were the two best NASCAR games ever made but 05 was solid.

Dodge Raceway is based on Bowman-Gray stadium in Winston-Salem NC.

I’ll maintain to this day NASCAR 03,04,05 is among the best run of video games ever. The amount of time I’ve logged on NASCAR 2003 career mode is obscene.

NASCAR is a joke compared to back then. Agree with that. Bad leadership and flat don't care about old hardcore fans anymore at all.

The memories this game brings hurts, the things I would do to go back in time when this game came out and play it everyday and watch nascar on Sundays

I burned through 3 copies of this game. I played it so much.

Jeff Burton was always my favorite driver because he was from God's Country, Halifax Virginia, why I also root for Denny Hamlin.

This is was the second NASCAR game I ever had and got it when I was 10. It's been my favorite NASCAR game ever since. It's funny that Kurt Bush was your favorite driver when he still drove the #2 Miller Lite car because my favorite driver has always been Rusty Wallace, who you mentioned drove the Miller Lite car at the time of this game. Blue was my favorite color when I was a kid and was a big reason why I like his car, but I mainly liked him because he was my dad's favorite driver. Up until about 2 years ago when I re-bought the game I had completely forgot about his car having Rusty Wallace on it instead of Miller Lite.

As I was walking to the bus stop today I saw a retro game store and bought this game for 10 bucks. Best missed bus ever!

Being a Hero was pretty easy. 1. Don't hit anyone - - takes practice. 2. Race the Charity races. These races gave like 9000+ hero points.

I never played Chase for The Cup, I played Thunder 2002 on PS1, and I had a lot of fun, but here in Brazil we didn't have a culture of playing Nascar games, only F1 games. But in 2007 my brother bought a copy of Nascar 08 for the PS2. I know that for you guys 08 wasn't good. But for me Nascar 08 was the best Nascar game I ever played, I will never forget playing a season on Nationwide through my career. I had a title battle between myself, Clint Bowyer and Kasey Kayne. I remember that on final races the battle was so intense that I was completely obsessed with the game. Then I raced in Texas and I was leading the race, when all of a sudden Kasey Kayne and I were side by side when he touched my car and my right rear tire blew up, then I lost the race, and at Homestead I did my best to win the Nationwide title, but Bowyer won the title by less than 10 points. I was upset, but amazed at how intense the game was. That's why I consider Nascar 08 on Ps2 was the best Nascar game I ever played. Another thing that I learned to love about EA Nascar games was the handling of cars on Superspeedway tracks, It was so nerve-racking but at the same time you could feel the control of your car perfectly. And I hated Eutechnix's Nascar games, It was too unstable to drive on Superspeedway tracks.

If it wasn’t for the NASCAR games of this time period, I likely wouldn’t have gone on to get into more racing games later on like Grid, TOCA Race Driver 2 & 3, etc.

This was a great game, I also loved 06/07 where you could swap to teammate drivers and those also had the amazing mini game races and in depth career. Wish we had a modern game with all those features. EA in 2004-2007 was peak, every game was great I swear lol

Not the same version of the track for licensing reasons though.

I didn't play 05 but I do remember their career mode from whenever Tony Stewart was on the cover which was the same as this. Put so many hours into that game. Really gave you a sense of satisfaction when you moved up the ranks and the intimidator system was awesome. It really gave a fun feel especially when you'd make a rival and then suddenly you'd find your rival late in a race and it really got the adrenaline pumping because it always felt personal when they'd try to wreck you.

My grandmother got me this game on the GameCube and I also loved it

This game was a huge part of my childhood

I played this in ps2 and I loved it and I really love going in the wrong way and crashing into other cars, it was the best thing to do in the game.
